A Happy Audio-Technica A900 user for 2 years. What should be next?
Bangraman: I remember you! You were the resident expert on Audio-Technicas. 1. If I remember correctly, the CD3000 was discontinued by Sony and people were having some sort of warranty problems with them. Am I correct? 2. Do these need to be driven by an amplifier?- blipblop

A Happy Audio-Technica A900 user for 2 years. What should be next?
Slwiser: You are right. I will keep it till it dies, but before I go ahead and buy the same exact thing I just wanted to make sure there's nothing that has cropped up as a better choice since I purchased the a900. Cheechoz: Doesn't the DT990 need to be driven by an amp?- blipblop

Are any of the "pro" amp builders still around?
I started work on a PPA v1.0B that I never finished. This was back in late 2003/2004. I since finished school and started working ridiculous hours. Back then I remember that there were a few respected members who built PPAs for a small fee. Are they still around? I'd like to have mine...- blipblop

A Happy Audio-Technica A900 user for 2 years. What should be next?
I had spent a considerable amount of time on this forum trying to determine the best headphone to purchase. Little did I know when I first arrived here that I'd have to consider many things in my search - audio range, pre-amplification, etc. After a long search I decided upon the A900 for...- blipblop

What the masses think of Audiophiles...?
The thing is, I've made the decision, now for awhile, that I'm not going to bother with all this last 2% stuff. I realize that I dn't have the inclination or the predisposition to get obsessed with this stuff. But I'll tell you a good week and a half away from this board did wonders to help me...- blipblop

What the masses think of Audiophiles...?
Ripped from another, non-audiophile board, in response to a post on a group buy of cable interconnects: ""Audiophiles" are a scary lot. Anything that ends in "phile" usually isn't complimentary. I attended an audio club meeting locally, once. I like great quality sound, but to sit around a...- blipblop

Who Made this AMP?
Thanks for the ideas guys, and the excellent explanation, Mac! I'm going to look around for a cabinet shop. Is that the best term to use when thumbing around phonebooks and the like? What else are they called - woodworkers? woodworking shops?- blipblop

selected ambient works 85-92----- awesome!
Four Tet is excellent. Although I like U.F.Orb and the rest of the Orb's catalog, am I the only one to say that Orbvs Terrarvm was their most mature, complex and beautiful work? This is neo-classical music my friends. Absolutely in-CREDIBLE, considering that the music makes you feel like... -
Toytronic. What a Label...
CiM Abfahrt Hinwil Gimmik Damn, what incredible music. They are competing with City Centre Offices and Morr Music for best electronic label, in my book. -

Any Recommendations for a Momentary Switch besides the Bulgin?
Till, the problem is that the US distributors, at least NewarkinOne, is charging the $22 pricetag. Insane!- blipblop

My thoughts on the new sennheiser 595
Quote: Sennheiser is on the move and can compete with most headphones many times there price. I feel lucky to be at the start of the new Sennheiser movement if you will. Someone drank the Koolaid at the last Shri Senn meeting.- blipblop

Any Recommendations for a Momentary Switch besides the Bulgin?
I'm going to use a momentary switch for the PPA, making use of a simple-circuit that Wooderson used to allow this to work. However, the famous Bulgin Vandal-Resistan switch is onboxiously expensive at a hefty $22. Any other cool looking ones you all know of that are cheaper?! Thanks a bunch guys.- blipblop

A900's in today!
I'd buy a cd3000 right now, if it wasn't for one fact - that I'm investing in what may turn out to be an expensive paper-weight. Sony's washed their hands of this headphone. How sad...- blipblop

Audiotechnia A900 or Sony CD3000
The a900s don't have distorted highs in my opinion, but then again I'm not an expert. They do roll off the highs a touch, but that's perfect for me since it provides a relatively upfront sound without the painful highs often associated with it, i.e., Grado.- blipblop

quick ppa question
Can I use a simple 9v to test the power supply portion? I don't see why not, but seeing as how the PPA is on the whole a lot more complex, I was thinking that perhaps the power supply portion was also significantly modded in addition to the amplifier part, rendering this undoable.- blipblop
