I started buying Schiit before black was an option. The Hel is the only black thing I have, and that stands alone on my work desk, so it doesn't have to match anything. I'm really glad they made a Silver option for the MJ3, as I was unlikely to buy a black one.

Idk, it seems fine when I use my Ayre Codex or Chord Mojo. I think if it’s well-implemented it can be fine.

For an endpoint, those are great. But if you want to have all the music stored there and have multi zones and EQ and DSP, then a Mac mini is where it’s at.

Has anyone found a good AM/FM/HD Radio tuner? I see the Sangean HDT-20 as one option, but wondering if anyone here has found another that’s a better aesthetic match for a Silver Schiit 2-channel stack.

I was thinking of making a triangular prism shaped block and attaching the 3 remotes to it. Then I’ll set it right next to my Pono player.

I do of course also have a preamp, but I’m not going to use one DAC for my Roon endpoint and another for the TV. The preamp is for switching mainly between my Yggy and my Mani (and of course for volume adjustment) It’s only as of this Christmas that I have a unison USB hub, but that still...

The other difference is my GS still has the Gen 5 USB. But since my headphone rig is fed by an Allo Digione with a BNC, the USB won’t be used there.

The one I already have is the Yggy GS. I decided to get the GS2 rather than upgrading the GS, and will move the GS from my 2 channel setup to my headphone setup. I’d assume they should sound the same since they have the same generation of analog board.

Getting a GS2 with Unison next week, so I’ll try Unison-Unison then. For now, it was simpler to leave my Mac Mini on the Gen 5 USB and put the Urd on coax. Will also try AEU/ESB. I have a couple USB C to B and A cables on order as well.

Having thrown the planars at the MJ3, I figured it was time to plug in the dynamic drivers. All single ended in this case, even though I have balanced cables for everything except the Grados. These are definitely not power hungry compared to the planars, as they’ll all bleed ears in low gain 1/4”

This is why I got Qobuz and Roon. To listen to new stuff that 50-year-old me wouldn’t otherwise hear.
