Shanling UP5 - Our new flagship portable Bluetooth DAC/AMP

Hmmm... Not sure about this! Used my UP5 with many Smartphones/Tablets/Laptops and the volume is consistently a lot lower over Bluetooth than wired. It's always been like that since I got the UP5. One of the main reasons I got rid of it actually.

Monolith M1070 Over Ear Open Back Planar Headphones

Odd, still showing £176.66 for me? TBH, I'd happily pay £211 for them. Really enjoying them so far.

New Beyerdynamic Pro X line: DT 700 Pro X and DT 900 Pro X

Agree, the SRH1540 are fantastic. I wouldn't go as far as to say they're end-game for me (never say never and all that...) but I feel no need to keep looking at other closed-backs for now. I've actually just bought the DT900 Pro X as an open-back 'companion' set for my SRH1540. The SRH1840 were...

Shanling UP5 - Our new flagship portable Bluetooth DAC/AMP

I can't speak for the Kato in particular but I also find a significant difference in power/volume between Bluetooth and wired..

Shanling UP5 - Our new flagship portable Bluetooth DAC/AMP

Been using the UP5 for a couple of days now. Pleased with it so far, sounds great and proving to be very versatile with built in Bluetooth. Finding myself using my over-ears around the house more. One thing, would it be possible to add a battery %, either on the unit or the app? Edit: I...

Shanling UP5 - Our new flagship portable Bluetooth DAC/AMP

I'm wondering this also. Mine should arrive later this week and the various firmwares seem to have pros and cons.

That's right, EQ and LDAC can't be used together.

    Shure AONIC 50 -

What would you like to see in a gen 2? I can't think of much Shure could do really. They already sound great and are super comfy. Guess the noise cancelling could be improved (moot point for me, I don't really use it), maybe longer battery life? Allow EQ with LDAC? Edit: actually, if Shure...

Shanling UP5 - Our new flagship portable Bluetooth DAC/AMP

Hmmm... So I was about ready to buy the UP5 when I came across this thread. Gotta ask, is it really as bad as this thread suggests? Seems like decent hardware badly let down by dodgy firmware. Granted, things seem to get fixed for the most part but still! I'm in the UK and was going to buy...

    Shure AONIC 50 -

Sorry to ask an obvious question, but have you tried a different cable? Issues you describe sound like a bad cable.

New firmware and app update available now. Adds the ability to apply EQ globally rather than just to locally stored music. But only if you don't use LDAC...

Well they've arrived, and in the meantime I've picked up a stinking cold... So my ears have the feeling of being filled with cotton wool. Not good... 🤧

Yeah, ANC isn't too high on my list of priorities. Sound quality and comfort first, LDAC too. Looking forward to them!

    Shure AONIC 50 -

Hello all. I'm considering joining the SA50 club, but am unable to audition prior to purchase. I was wondering if anybody who owns the Shure also has the Audio Technica MSR7B and could comment how the sound compares to the SA50 please? They're my yardstick so hoping someone can help! I...

iFi audio's worst kept secret: the hip-dac!

Edit: finally found the box for my old unit and have my answer (I think). The new unit is V1.2, old one V1.0. Thanks very much iFi, my replacement Hip-Dac arrived yesterday. Very happy with service I've received so far! I've used it today, and it's prompted a couple of questions to throw out...

iFi audio's worst kept secret: the hip-dac!

Cool, good to hear thanks. Gonna sit tonight and time how long it takes to drain in one sitting. My morning listening is usually interrupted by the kids! In the meantime I've raised a ticket with IFi support and await their response. Hoping for a good outcome as I've been pleased with the...

iFi audio's worst kept secret: the hip-dac!

Found the battery life of my Hip-Dac has really dipped over the past week. Seems to be around 1hr 30min use now. I've reached out to IFi support and waiting to hear back. I'm curious though, has anybody got experience of IFi support? Am I likely to have a struggle on my hands to get the battery...
