Thanks for the feedback. This will be a year end purchase for me, so I’ll be interested in your impressions as you continue to listen to the Advar. Even if I cross off the Solo as an option, I’ll still have the Fiio FD7 to consider. This feels like work! 😊

I’m an Andro 2020 owner who has been waiting for a CA hybrid that would hit the mark for me. Polaris? too “V”. Dorado? too expensive. Mammoth? too many mixed reactions. Onyx? I bought one on impulse but haven’t opened it yet. (It might become a birthday gift for my son.) Now Saber intrigues me...

I am sooooo on the fence about the Mammoth. I really appreciate the wide range of opinions voiced here from @Sebastien Chiu, @Star Ace, @vsg28 and others. Has anyone seen a comparison with the Dorado 2020? At twice the price (new) I am wondering if it is worth saving my pennies for the Dorado...

This is very helpful. I don’t expect it to have best in class high end but - as you point out - the measurements look discouraging. Good to know that your real world experience is different. Can anyone offer a comparison of Dorado 2020 vs Mammoth?

Okay, now I need to look for the Mammoth vs Dorado comparisons. 🙂 For me, a clear delineation of the mids and a clean high end - not the bass quality- would likely make the difference.

Keep those impressions coming between the two! what would cause you to send them back? I also like the clarity of the Andromeda‘s high end, and I don’t expect to match it with the Mammoth. But “muffled“ is certainly something I want to avoid!

I am in a similar place as you. I have the Andro 2020, enjoy it, but am looking for another more visceral CA model to complement it. I considered the Dorado but decided to see what was in this year’s CA pipeline. Mammoth “sounds” (from reviews) like the logical choice for me.
