Hi Head-Fiers I am looking for some recommendations, My project is to upgrade my setup at work. stereo 4mm plug -> RCA socket??
hey guys. i am planning to use my Earmax Pro temporarily as my pre-amp for my home system. i hooked it up and tested it, and it sounds really good. very musical, and great sound stage. however, to connect the 4mm output socket to my power amp, i was using a 4mm->2mm adaptor and then a low...- jmpsmash

Wheatfield HA-2?
has anyone listened to this amp? it specs looks pretty good, SET OTL, tube rectifier. pretty much a very puristic tube headphone amp. its fairly expensive price puts it in the same league as the EMP and the mid price Headrooms. just wondering how it sounds!!- jmpsmash

loosen up your cans...
i know hi-fi people take months to run-in their speakers at really loud volumes, despite owning my hd580 for more than a year now, i haven't really done any formal run-in. i usually listen to classical music, which is rather mellow compared to what most of you listen to. so i was sitting at...- jmpsmash

take a step back. leap forward some more.
one of these days, when you think your current set-up is boring and unrevealing, flat and undetailed, lack high, lack bass, take a step back, dig out those old cans you have, dig out the old amp and CD player, plug them in, set them up as you had a couple of years ago. and then relax and sit...- jmpsmash

loud vs. soft dilemma
i have a dilemma. i am currently using the HD580 driven by Earmax Pro. it is a great sounding combo, except when i play orchestral music, the sound is rather lay back. so lay back that even when i am in the right mood, i don't feel engaged in the music. it feels more like music whining in the...- jmpsmash

why?
this sounds like a college interview question, but it is an interesting one nonetheless. why? why headphones? what makes you interested in headphones in the first place? i listen to headphone mainly because i want to be able to listen to music at work. the other reason is because a very...- jmpsmash

HD580 <-> HD600 Comparison?
yup. the upgrade bug is biting again.... i have been using the HD580 for nearly a year now. i listen to 100% classical. i'd say chamber/orchestral 50%/50%. the HD580 is very sweet and very musical for chamber and instrumental piece, however, i find it a bit too lean for orchestral. the...- jmpsmash
