My cable for the headphones broke unfortunately broke today. A replacement from HIFIMAN is $120, which is basically highway robbery considering it probably cost them $5 to manufacture that flimsy piece of crap. Does anyone here have any recommendations that aren't a complete and utter ripoff...

Hifiman Sundaras are the headphones I use at home (with JDS Labs Atom and Schiit Modi 3), and they are the type of sound I want. Are there mobile earpods that sound like them? Thanks

Thank you for your reply :) In this case, I suppose I will exchange it for another one. That is quite unfortunate because I really did enjoy how they sounded, minus the channel imbalance. If I continue to receive defective models, I am not sure what I will do.

Currently eyeing these and the Hifiman Sundaras. Trying to get a new headphone to replace my Veilheiser 650's. I see many requests comparisons between the Sundaras and the LCD-1, but no answers. Anyone have a comparison between the two, which one to get etc?

Budget is like $400, and yes open backs are definitely better. I have no reason for needing a closed back. Welp I guess the Teak is off the list now lol.

So far I only have the Teak written down. What Grados do you think I should try from amazon, and how do they compare to the Teak?

I unfortunately do not live in Headphone Land, but it seems we share the same state. Any places in Chicago you recommend? Will probably look at the return policy on Massdrop's site and accordingly order a Fostex-X00 from them in a couple of weeks or so.

Think closed backs like the E-MU Teak would be better than open backs? EDIT: https://drop.com/buy/massdrop-fostex-tr-x00-mahogany-headphones these seem to be the same driver as the E-MU Teak, and less costly.

I mostly listen to death, but it should be fine I think. So I have the AD2000 down as a possibility. I'm probably going to try and find a Hi-Fi store, which will definitely be a drive since they are far and few between and test out a bunch of different ones.
