My guess is that a good seal may be missing with the person up in the thread. Maybe trying the other tips before sending them back... I can see the X10 not having the "breath" and resolution of the UE10pro, but again for the price, in comparison I find them quite good.

Why don't you shoot Grace Designs an email? In my experience they are pretty good in getting back to you.

Are using a LOD or connecting your cable directly into the ipod's headphone jack? IF the latter, make sure your volume on the ipod is nearly maxed out, otherwise you would not hear anything on the headphone amp's output side... If the former, I don't have any suggestions right off the bat...

I also agree that the new cable is not very good. The original thicker cable was much better. Hopefully they'll revert to something similar in the future. I actually wrote them about it, but never heard back. Although I admit that it was during the transition period, so probably more pressing...
