After using both extensively, I much prefer the HD58X over my HD600. The reason being the HD58X's stronger lower end give vocal voices much more depth than my HD600 can. Also, even though I am not an old guy I really do find too many songs these days have overwhelming highs that pierce my ears...

Firmware 3.0 is brighter than 2.0 so its more suitable for iem like Z5. But for my ie800 the older 2.0 is better. I could imagine Sony made firmware 2.0 for their EX1000 iem and 3.0 for the new m7 and m9 iem.

Cable can make a huge difference on the sound. At least to my ear, on multiple earphone/headphones. I wasn't floored by the difference. I was floored by how good this 150 dollar headphone sounds compared to my HD600. You need to chill.

Did anyone experience the ie800 ear buds coming off too easily? I have had one bud that flew away when I took off the ie800. Another one got stuck in my ear when I took the earphone off... After buying replacement buds from Sennheiser Parts they also are pretty loose. Any possible easy fix?

I find WM1A's 3.5mm sounds way too bright after upgrading to 3.0, the sound from 2.0 was perfect for my ie800, now its almost not bearable in a lot of songs so I factory reset back to 2.0.

I really like my ie800. To me personally, the sound from the ie800 feels super clear, the bass slams hard, and the high has this gliding taste to it. The only down side to me is the non-exchangeable cable. If the cable was replaceable then I don't think I will ever need any other iem. Sometimes...

How does this compare with the HD600? I always thought the HD660s is a HD700 packaged and tuned like a HD600. Is the HD58X a slightly downgraded version of HD660s or something different?

So I was messing around with the settings, and I found out that High Gain combined with Slow Roll Off Digital Filter really make the sound veiled and warm. Having Medium Gain and Sharp Roll Off provides a much brighter sound which I personally prefer. If you find the sound too warm maybe try this.

But this really is a pretty amazing little device sound wise. Looking forward to a N5iii if there is ever going to be one.

Yeah, there is definitely a delay when pressing play or pause. For me it is even up to 4 seconds long. Just got my new N5iis, everything else is fantastic. But I can live with this delay issue.
