Beyerdynamic Amiron Wireless
I kept the Amiron foam disks. It’s been quite a long time now but I do not recall any perceptible difference in sound after changing the earpads.- ag18

Are we going to talk about these new Beyer/Massdrop 177x?
From my experience with other low impedance Beyerdynamics, my expectation is that you won't have any sound quality issues. (I'm basing this on 16, 32, 80, and 250 Ohm versions of the DT-770 -- and to me, the 16s are just as fine as all the others.)- ag18

Totally agree with you. Similar for me. But isn't it often the case that the things that work well just simply don't get much attention? I, for one, am glad I bought these when they came out.- ag18

RAI Penta -- Meze Audio's Flagship IEM with Penta Hybrid Driver Technology
I've been enjoying the RAI Pentas with lots of heavy metal, some progressive, some death metal and speedy drum work. I do not find them sluggish. Arch Enemy, Alkaloid, Gojira, Aether Realm, Dream Theater -- they all work really well. Obviously, the better recordings and masters (Dream Theater's...- ag18

Ah, I must have missed that one. Thanks for mentioning it. (Though, then again, I probably also would have imagined that bug to be fixed with the 2.0.3 update and might have left the sd card in during the reboot anyway.)- ag18

And THAT actually helped -- I took the SD card out, restarted Poly, then re-inserted the SD card. And then everything played again in Quickplay. Fascinating. (Restarting Poly with the SD card inside the slot did not have the same result.) Thanks for the tip! (also cc @Matt Bartlett, when you're...- ag18

After firmware update to 2.0.3, my quickplay playlists don't work anymore -- playlist is listed but tapping on it doesn't trigger playback anymore. Has anyone encountered and solved a similar problem?- ag18

Headphones for metal music - ultimate solution
May I also suggest you look at the Meze Audio RAI Penta. They’re fantastic with metal (and practically everything else, it seems) and they’re small and don’t protrude much, which makes them great for bed even when you’re laying on your side...- ag18

Perfect. I've got it working again. I had already deleted the mpd and dlna-sdfree files before and let them be rebuilt, but I had never before deleted the art_cache.tar (since I assumed it was just a cache of album art; why bother with that one?) -- deleting all three now made the difference...- ag18

@Matt Bartlett or other Quickplay users out here: after updating to 2.0 none of my quickplay playlists work anymore. I see them, I can select them, but nothing starts playing. This used to be only the case when I mistyped a path name (I hand code my playlists) and the Poly couldn’t find a file...- ag18

Sweet. I’m just now using it as a Bluetooth receiver (from iPhone) on the subway ride. I deliberately left it on WiFi mode (in other words, I didn’t put it into airplane mode) and I’m not noticing any of the skips and 6sec WiFi connection clicks.- ag18

RAI Penta -- Meze Audio's Flagship IEM with Penta Hybrid Driver Technology
I'm a metalhead, and I love mine. For what it's worth, I'm usually a fan of the crips Beyerdynamic signatures (DT-1990, DT-770 etc.). RAI Penta is not as analytical as those, but it's bright, and it packs a punch. Plus, let's face it: most of our style of music isn't recorded very well. I find...- ag18

They're old-school. Waterfall all the way. Nothing agile. Perfectionism over customer experience (which, these days, and in the case of a mobile, on-the-go device like MojoPoly is simply measured by a different set of expectations than all the other devices they build). Anecdotally, I spoke to...- ag18

I’m sure there’s an authorized service center that can do the headband change for you. I paid less than US$100, and that included the parts, fwiw.- ag18
