My collection is under 2000 albums. I'd guess that I have 1300-1400 cds and ~300 Lps. Honestly I feel guilty about it. It's far too large and I don't have the time to actually appreciate all of it. If all I did was sleep and listen to music it would probably take me somewhere around six months...

what do you mean 'level'? are you referring to artificial software playback gain adjustment? If so the answer is no. I listen to entire albums even on my ipod. I adjust the volume when the album starts to a comfortable listening level, and that's good enough for me.
