The Stax SR-507 Thread
I'm considering picking up a pair of 507's soon. Amp wise, has anyone compared them longer term with the 717 and 323? If so, which do you prefer and why? Lastly does anyone have time with the 507 and BHSE? Thanks!- johnsonad

CanJam 2009 Impressions
Hello all. It’s been a while since I’ve posted as my system turned from headphones to 2 channel which has been an obsession for the last year. This year’s meet was great and well put together. You did a great job guys! The hotel was well suited as were the room sizes. Not too big and definitely...- johnsonad

Decent transport for a decent price
Beat to death thread but had to ask anyways. I'm happy with my Transporter and am going to use it as the DAC for a while selling off my Meridian. I need a CD transport that works well and is a decent price. I've heard of a few Dennon and there are kits such as DIY HIFI. What are your guys...- johnsonad

How to maintain VPI 16.5 record cleaning machine?
I have an early 16.5 to and have cleaned hundreds of records with it without a problem. Get a kitchen sponge and put it in the container, replace the wand and put it to use. My motor over heats pretty easy but otherwise it is a great unit. I recommend a set of ear plugs if you are going to clean...- johnsonad

Stacking allows more boards in the future. The case is large enough to stack power supplies too. So far so good. Easy build all around compared to my Opus build with a half dozen boards. I'm looking forward to the Counterpoint I/V stage and hope to run it and the IVY together. The IVY takes a...- johnsonad

R1-4 and R5-6 measure right on the board. My layout matches the one one the website. Could it be in the resistor pads U1-2? Is there a way to test them?- johnsonad

Have a small problem with the LCBPS, I can't get the +/- below around 16 to 17 volts. The heat sinks are getting hot too. Pretty sure I soldered it together right. The little screws on the voltage regulator have hit their end and keep clicking without a drop in the voltage.- johnsonad

Thanks Brian, got it done but will try the easier path next time around. Never thought I would have to use a magnifying glass! Another question: For those of us using both balanced and SE outputs on the IVY, which values do you recommend for R9-12 and R13-16 or do we need to pick one set...- johnsonad

Slim Devices Transporter or used Esoteric DV50?
My vote is for the TP. I own one and love the thing. It really does sound good and is so stupid easy to use. I've got about 1T of music and it makes it easy to sort through and organize. Is it the best thing out there, no, but the options more then make up for losses. I'm building a TPA Buffalo...- johnsonad

Are Canare Star Quad an improvement over stock D2000?
I've rewired D2000's with silver coated copper and have done comparisons between this rewire and stock D5000 wire. IMHO, find someones stock D5000 cable for 10 bucks or so and use it, Denon did a very good job with this stock cable. If your looking for night and day differences between the stock...- johnsonad

Headphones or Speakers?
I started with cans and converted to speakers. I'll probably end up with a good set of cans again but there is a certain magic in speakers that I never found in headphones.
