how do the beyerdynamic dt770's compare to m50x's????
Yes 32ohm dt770 would be okay without an amp. The fostex t20/40/50 rp headphones have a great driver, but are usually modded by people (and some sell them like mr speakers and ZMF) which the Mad Dogs / Alpha dogs / Alpha primes come from mr.speakers, but they are based on the mk2 version...- Draxcer

Thinking about getting the Little Bear P5 v1.4 to play with valves
I'm not really the biggest advocate of using a receiver as headphone amp. And even though Apple stuff have pretty goods DAC's in the, there will always be a benefit from having a separate dac. But I'm not going to force anything on you. As long as you like it, it's all good. The tubes may not...- Draxcer

how do the beyerdynamic dt770's compare to m50x's????
If you dont listen to really bassy music, you might benefit from saving up a little more and getting the Audio Technica MSR7's used or new.- Draxcer

ath ad500x vs k240
the term you're looking for is a wide soundstage. and ad500x is much better than the k240's in that regard, and most everything else as well- Draxcer

Sennheiser hd600 vs 650
You have a very good amp, youd probably never need to upgrade it, good inputs, good power, very low distortion- Draxcer

Sennheiser hd600 vs 650
What amp do you have? That is actually a very strong amp. For a reference, the Schiit Magni 2 Uber is 1.5W @ 32 ohm- Draxcer

Using a Portable (USB) Amp/DAC combo with a Portable Battery Pack
You would actually need a real portable DAC/AMP combo to bypass your phones DAC, as it needs to plug into your phones usb. Plugging from the lineouts on the dac/amp combo units you listed would use your phones dac but the combo units amp. Would be easier (and less cumbersome) to get an...- Draxcer

Best DAC to a Beyerdynamic DT990 600 ohm
If you're going for the modi2/magni2, consider the Magni 2 Uber, significantly more power for not much more $$$ But if you ever think you'll be getting higher end headphones, just consider the NFB-11 I'd classify the modi/magni combo midfi, and the NFB-11 Highfi, though modi/magni is...- Draxcer

Sennheiser hd600 vs 650
In a perfect world both of these would have always been the exact same price, and you choose 600 for neutral, and 650 for slightly warmer sound. They both really are good choices on their own, it would always be best to a/b them and choose what you prefer.- Draxcer

how do the beyerdynamic dt770's compare to m50x's????
For $180, depends what kind of sound you're looking to get, or what kinda music you'll be listening to. But if we're just talking about the 2 you're looking into. I prefer the dt770's over the m50x for comfort, and sound. The m50's try to say theyre monitoring cans, while screaming bass...- Draxcer

Sennheiser hd600 vs 650
IMO, the bass on the HD600's isn't all too muddy, just not doesn't have as much slam as other headphones. Id say you can get the HD600, and later on if you get bored of the neutral-ish sound of them, get an amp that warms up the sound sig, like a Schiit Asgard 2, or a tube amp like the...- Draxcer

Sub $400 DAC Options
Hello everyone, I'm new here, though I've browsed these forums a few times. I'm looking to upgrade my DAC, and I'm not sure how to go about it. Coming from a Modi2 / Magni2U, I've just upgraded my Magni2U for a Mjolnir SinglePower SquareWave And I felt now's the time to upgrade my DAC...- Draxcer
