Sennheiser HD 700 Impressions Thread
To chime in after an year of use - these area great! What a joy to my ears, the open air, the realistic acoustic - so many times I got confused "Do I hear sound from outside or this is from the headpones?". Great bass, open, clear gentle to my ears - no comparision with my other closed...- Rado2

O2 AMP + ODAC
Just to mention, that some computers have dedicated USB ports for audio or other purposes. I was quite surprised for example that my motherboard came with two of such, for which the manual (and the engineers staff) said are specially though over for clean power and data supply. I have no idea...- Rado2

Beyerdynamic DT-1770: Product Info, Discussion and Impressions
Strange, nobody mentioned O2+DAC. I think it is cheap and quality solution. I'm using that. It has enough to drive 1770 very, very loud with clean transparent power. The DAC bundled is sound card running on variety of systems and enough to satisfy people hearing above 24 KHz with high 24 bit...- Rado2

O2 AMP + ODAC
This depend on your input level. If your input level (source) is 2.1V RMS (like in the ODAC combo) you should not go over x3.33 gain (if I remember O2 tops near 7V). For your K701, which are 105dB/V this mean... 115dB I think... Anyway, its enough to overload your ears or even burn the...- Rado2

Beyerdynamic DT-1770: Product Info, Discussion and Impressions
I have officially joined the club. Just got these before 2 days from a member here (if you read that, again - excuse my impatience) and yesterday had the chance to listen to them. I use the O2+DAC(B) and comparing them to my other phones - HD700 (of course, the comparison is not fair as...- Rado2

Sennheiser HD 700 Impressions Thread
I do use it with O2 (+ODAC) and I can say that I like it very much. And the more I listen, the more I like it. Some people find too much treble this way, btw. Probably it also depends on the type of music and the volume knob. My styles are Electronic, Jazz, Classical, Vocals and etc. (no...- Rado2

Beyerdynamic DT-1770: Product Info, Discussion and Impressions
FYI: I have asked beyerdynamics about the sound leakage to the environment from DT-1770 (velour earpads) and T5p. They answered that they have approximately the same levels (~18dB). But DT-1770 with leather earpads has 21dB suppression.- Rado2

Beyerdynamic DT-1770: Product Info, Discussion and Impressions
Thanks for the info. I expected somewhat similar behavior and currently I'm hunting for offers. My rant was mostly with regard to all these subjective statements about the leakage which makes you to wonder.- Rado2

Beyerdynamic DT-1770: Product Info, Discussion and Impressions
I checked it out. T5p has better isolation than DT-770 (and except for one peak near 100Hz, even than Alpha Prime). So DT-1770 will leak more? I do not know, can't compare, but if "isolation=leak", T5p and DT-1770 are quite similar. But if you read the previous posts here, people tend to agree...- Rado2

Beyerdynamic DT-1770: Product Info, Discussion and Impressions
Hi! Thanks for the idea, but where did you saw DT-1770 there? I saw it only in 2 comments. No measurements. Though I have found the attenuation ability of T5p and it is even bigger than that of DT-150 - for me a bit surprising. Still I can't deliver the leakage stat from the attenuation (maybe...- Rado2

I have no single issue with the cable. It is too long, but I just coiled and tied it up next to the amp. One interesting question which I want to ask guys here is - how do you keep your headphones clean? Or you just sell them I have some fears that the silver thing will get dusty after...- Rado2

Beyerdynamic DT-1770: Product Info, Discussion and Impressions
@MortenB I think the leakage for which you are talking about is the "Ambient noise attenuation" stat? If so, this is more of not hearing what's happening outside and not what the others are hearing from your phones. I'm interested of the later. Thanks for your words and sorry that I can't help...- Rado2

Beyerdynamic DT-1770: Product Info, Discussion and Impressions
At the end I think I'll go with DT-1770, looks sturdy and reading all the opinions for this and t5p - it has a bit less leakage. I think I'm also going to write to beyerdynamic to make them think of that their customers can find for useful such stat as leakage - useful (sorry for my English). If...- Rado2

Beyerdynamic DT-1770: Product Info, Discussion and Impressions
For me it is really about the sound leakage. I'll use it next to people. Hence my question before few posts. If DT-1770 is noticeable better at this - I will choose it. While T5p gen.2 can be with better sound it is something which I'll definitely survive over (and forget if I don't start...- Rado2

What's the best free software to convert FLAC to mp3?
Can't believe nobody mentioned FFmpeg. A damn big pile of software out there uses that lib to play/encode/decode. It's free and you can take it pre-compiled for many platforms. It has command line interface too (CLI). All: https://ffmpeg.org/download.html Windows...- Rado2

Beyerdynamic DT-1770: Product Info, Discussion and Impressions
What I like in DT 1770 is that it looks sturdy, has good build quality, very good sound, it is somewhat closed (my primary target) and is not so expensive for me, it also rings that the price quality ratio is really good. As I said strong and rational choice, but still there is this 'but'... Why...- Rado2

Beyerdynamic DT-1770: Product Info, Discussion and Impressions
Any idea how the sound leakage (in the direction headphones -> environment) compares between 1770 and t5p v2? And whether the $$$ difference is worth it. 1770 looks so strong and rationale, but t5p2 is so tempting...Sigh. I try to save my money from spending them for t5p2- Rado2

Extremely disappointed of my combo - HD700 + O2/ODAC
I have the same combo and I do like it. Prevailing is - yes, tube amps or EQ settings for some listeners. As for the power: O2 on 1-to-1 gain will bring the cans near 112 dB (If I remember correctly) - so enough power. I rarely boost past the half of the volume knob on this gain for example. It...- Rado2

Thank you all! I think that alternative is hard/impossible to find, but I'll check for sure your proposals. I'm off from home, so reading here made me feel missing my hd700. Though now I'm searching for office phones (i.e. closed) which I can compare with hd700. Any ideas? The price should be similar, preferably much less. I listen to many genres (acoustic, classic, techno, ethno, new age, ...).- Rado2

Hi all, just eager to mention that I have totally entered new Audio era with HD700. In fact, these are my first higher quality phones.
