Noble Audio - the Wizard returns!
Thanks everybody and an even warmer thanks to Brannan who kindly proposed to replace the stock cable. Love Noble customer service :) I will keep in mind everybody's suggestions and will most likely grab one of the main 4 suggested cables for Christmas. Again, thank you all.- Mak0

Noble Audio - the Wizard returns!
Thanks for your suggestion. I have been tempted by the sturdy aesthetics of Toxic cables but I'm definitely not a believer of high end cables. It makes it hard to justify shelling out hundreds just for the eyes. Money is not the issue, but I'd rather not spend irrationally. Concerning TRRS...- Mak0

Noble Audio - the Wizard returns!
Linum advertises their cables as being extremely lightweight, I'm slightly concerned about their longevity. Anyway, I see you're advocating the Music line from them. Any reason not to go with the BaX? I'm primarily listening to jazz and blues and the soft voices they are marketing can be...- Mak0

Noble Audio - the Wizard returns!
Sure! I worded a bit poorly but basically some pins detached from the connector and got stuck into the receptacles on the shell. This happened when storing the k10 still attached to the cable in the stock case. I have asked some assistance to noble support but as this is not covered by...- Mak0

Noble Audio - the Wizard returns!
Hello, the stock cable of my K10 just died on me and I wanted to have some suggestions of decent and "cheap" cables under 250 euro, if possible made in Europe. Or any other idea for replacement. Thanks!- Mak0

FiiO X5 2nd gen Impressions and Discussion thread
@JamesFiiO: Would you mind sending me the mail of the development team or someone responsible for the OS / optimization ? I have a couple of practical suggestions to improve the responsivity of the device in case of very large librairies. This could very well benefit X1, X3 and X5.- Mak0

Already done, both the software (based on Linux ARM kernel) and couple of components that I soldered on a PCB + raspi as 'the brain'. It's now my main streaming solution for my NAS that I control with an ad hoc Android app on my phone. Thank you that's not rocket science and i don't have...- Mak0

This is plain wrong. Yes it's a possibility but that's just not a fair one. You have your own website where you publish your firmware. You have your own git repo where the source code is (and the firmware on your website is just the compiled package of this code). Anyone that has access to...- Mak0

LOL I teach just that here in France in master degree. I don't know what they tried to teach you but it's usually just decomposing a complex problem into smaller problems and having some abstract layers in between. That being said, I would expect most of the code to be in C which doesn't mean a...- Mak0

And this is why you do open source projects. I for one would be very happy to include a few features for the community and submit it to your lead developers who can then merge it into their code. Basic open source that works wonders. On an unrelated note, I opted for a X5ii hoping some day...- Mak0

Sony MDR-10RBT , vmoda XS and others
For yourself, isolation is just as good as most closed headphones, somewhere between 8 and 12 dB. For the world, they won't hear what you're listening to if the can is on your head. Isolation wise, they are very similar to every other good closed headphones on the market really.- Mak0

Sony MDR-10RBT , vmoda XS and others
Hello, Not sure how they are different but I have the MDR-1RBT. I find their quality to be top notch. however the pleather pads are starting to crack after around 2.5 years of use. Fair enough I guess, they are easily replaceable so there's that... The wireless functionality works...- Mak0

Noble Audio - the Wizard returns!
No no I simply meant that any user can customise himself his own IEMs and with enough patience, some results can come close to 'simple wizard designs'. The page is good as it is :) The post was more focused on the fact that no matter wizard or standard, the quality should be there.- Mak0

Noble Audio - the Wizard returns!
I do feel that noble products are seen as luxury and the least a customer would expect is top notch quality. The dents in the previous pictures are not acceptable and the shell should have been ruled out at the factory. As for myself, may I be the voice of many, believe Wizard products are...- Mak0

ONKYO DP-X1 | Dual Sabre Dacs | Balanced | Sabre BTL Amp | MQA | DSD 256 | Android 5 |
We know nothing sound wise from this DAP or the X7. We know nothing much UI wise from both the DP-X1 and X7. However, FiiO already has a user base for its DAP, which is not the case for Onkyo, so by volume one could expect the X7 would sell more. Let's wait and see :)- Mak0

ONKYO DP-X1 | Dual Sabre Dacs | Balanced | Sabre BTL Amp | MQA | DSD 256 | Android 5 |
This will most likely happen. It costs as much to upgrade the OS on an existing hardware than to adapt a new version of Android on a new DAP. Economically speaking, I don't see why DAP manufacturers would do it knowing that it's not even a standard practice for phone manufacturers. Of...- Mak0

Yup... Good thing I had doubts about the wave project, despite the spec being all-you-could-wish-for, saved me a bullet. Lesson to be learned for crowd funding : invest only when the prototype is already done and the only remaining phase is the mass production. Back on topic : I hope we can...- Mak0

I'm not a developer per se but I have some experience in the field. What you are talking about refers more to some kind of modular architecture and i don't really imagine it being the case here with a closed system. What I meant and that you should check is participative tools where several...- Mak0
