Been following this thread for a while and managed to find a used A28 which is coming in a couple days! I haven't had much practice with a soldering iron so seeing your post gave me the much needed confidence to go ahead and purchase some of the parts needed.   So far just the sonic op-amps...

I registered knowing what I was getting myself into   It's all good, your comment reminded me I liked the warmness of tubes( Maverick D2 Tube Out), especially with the TH900 so investing in a tube amp if not just for the cosmetics but hopefully a better sound would be a great idea.
