are you sure the cans are clean? sometimes you can find insects inside the cans or dirt and dust...   (had this with sennheisers - and with an old akg too)   this can explain the annoying rattling!

that´s why they implemented a pretty good EQ - does the fiio amps have an EQ? (i just had a e5, now using cMOy)

  me sometimes using the x1 with a zigis cmoy on a akg K240 SC (normally with shure se215 or ue sf3) and i´m missing some rockbox-toys like the crossfeed...

270 playbacks? you mean 240 monitor?!   difference between 240m and sc is: sc sounds brighter, fuller, more air, more deepness, more room a bit more detail. you can imagine where the musicians are.   m sounds very technical/analyzing to my ears, very good for monitoring and listening to...
