    Matrix HPA-2 or Schiit Magni/Modi 2 uber for HD800?

Bump. Would like to know if the HD800 goes well with the Magni/Modi 2 uber as well.   Thanks - T

choose my next headphones, bassy (not too much)

fuens,   Let us know how you like them. I think they are perfect for my taste. My wife concedes that they are the best headphones she has ever listed too. She also noted: "a tad too much bass" while listening to Mozart. It was said before on head-fi that the HD650s are very "EQ friendly". I...

choose my next headphones, bassy (not too much)

fuens,   I did get the HD650s in the mail today and started listening to them. They have been on for about two hours now. Remember, I did NOT buy these for hiphop/rap/edm:   I am shocked to find how much I enjoy techno on this headset. I am listening via a FiiO E10K that easily drives...

choose my next headphones, bassy (not too much)

To get myself back on topic:   Fuen,   I couldn't pass this deal up, maybe you can't either:   http://slickdeals.net/f/7626070-sennheiser-hd650-audiophile-open-headphones-299-99-with-free-shipping-back-again   HD650 for 300 and HD600 for 250.   - T

choose my next headphones, bassy (not too much)

I think you nailed it. At the end it comes down to preference. We likely have very different preferences of how we like to listen to music. The HD650 instantly spoke to me. I loved their warm and laid back attitude.   And I feel you: "sometimes is not possible to listen on speakers (be it...

The AKG K7XX Massdrop First Edition Thread

Instead of starting a new thread I figured I would chime in here:   Two months ago I missed the K7xx drop and told myself that it would be my next headphone when they become available again. Then yesterday I get an email saying that there are roughly 800 units available. Immidiatly I went to...

choose my next headphones, bassy (not too much)

I had a chance to listen to the HD650 in store a week ago. I was really amazed by and and loved their warm character. I liked them so much that I passed up the AKG7xx massdrop edition because I knew that no matter what I buy now it will only stave off the inevitable: the HD650. That being said I...

    DT770 Question

That makes allot of sense. Let me mediate on it.     Thanks. I will read up on it.     That is so interesting. Do you know if that was the 80 Ohm version. The 80 Ohm version is what research indicates to have the most bass.

    DT770 Question

Thanks Billy. I think I was coming to just that conclusion. It is very hard to put down 200 or 300 USD for heads (maybe another 300 for a magni/modi stack in the futre :D ) without really being able to try any of the equipment. It is like you said though, some people refer to the DT770 in such...

    DT770 Question

Thanks to the help of many great reviews on this forum and suggestions from members I was about to pull the trigger on the DT770s. Many reviews consider them to be heavy on the bass and they are often suggested for rock/rap an other bass heavy music.  ...

Not enjoying the HD280 PROs on one particular song

Fair enough. The only logical thing I can do is buy more headphones and see if I can narrow it down that way.   - T

Not enjoying the HD280 PROs on one particular song

I know I asked a pretty awkward question. But there has to be some science, some reason behind this. After all the pro's describe headphones as "fun" or "stale". What does that mean? Are my KOSS more "fun"?   - T

Not enjoying the HD280 PROs on one particular song

Hi,   I didn't know where to post this so I put it into the help forum. This is probably a very silly question, but I just don't know enough about audio equipment to solve this one myself.   I own the HD280 PROs and KOSS RUK30 phones. I power them via the FiiO E10K. First of all I love the...

    DT770 80 or 250 ohm?

I don't have any experience with FiiO portables. But I own the FiiO E10K and am very pleased with it. I use it on my HD280 PROs and never go past 2 on the volume knob. And that is very loud.   Dunno. But I am incredibly happy with the FiiO. I could give a review but others have done a better...

    DT770 80 or 250 ohm?

I am no expert but it would seem that for laptop use and portable use the 80 Ohm version might be more appropriate. The 250 Ohm might not get loud enough on some un-amplified sources.

Hi Head-Fi! Sennheiser HD 280 Pro Replacement

thanks zunehdrocks,   I was not aware of innerfidelity. What a great resource. That being said it looks like the  http://www.innerfidelity.com/images/BeyerdynamicDT770.pdf have quite good isolation too, and a boosted bass profile which I just might really enjoy.

    Sensitive hearing in the morning

Yes and Yes. I use HD280s so almost any environment is a quiet environment. I never payed it much attention. Some things on my body work better at night and others better in the morning.

    Sensitive hearing in the morning

I am the same way. Maybe not as extreme as you but I listen to music at much lower volumes in the morning. For reference: I am also not a habitual drunk. ;D

Sampler set. 1 each IEM, on-ear, over-ear, different sound profiles, ~$100?

Warning, I am new to head-fi, but here it goes:   I got the sense from your post that isolation is paramount. From my research that pretty much narrows it down to IEM and closed over-ear headphones. Because isolation is a factor I would also suggest to not buy on-ear headphones, due to their...

Color me confused - Old Phillips N6315

So I have a pair of Phillips N6315s that I just dug up. I almost threw them into the trash a month ago. I tried them on my stereo system and they sounded like tin cans. I figured, "well it is old tech, what do you expect." Especially because I knew that my stereo system had unnatural bass boost...

Playback Volume and BASS on the FIIO E10K impressions and questions

Yes. On the FiiO I listen to quieter volumes. On other sources I have a tendency to turn up the volume. I also have the habit of turning up the volume as my day progress and becomes more stressful, this effect is also greatly reduced when listening to the FiiO.   - TLoFP

    DAC distortion

Ok. So this isn't necessarily a problem of the FiiO but rather a problem with syncronous USB dacs? Although I can't complain at the price point of the FiiO.
  24. TLoFP

    DAC distortion

LoL. I haven't had the FiiO for a week yet and I am checking out new DACs. But seriously the FiiO is working great. This was a one time hick-up and it happened on first time driver install. That issue might never show up again. I have already decided that my next purchase is the Modi/Magni 2...

    DAC distortion

I just experienced something rather weird. Pink Floyd sounded distorted through the FiiO E10K. I played some sine wave sweeps and they sounded distorted in the higher frequencies. They sounded very "Digital" not very smooth. I don't know if I am using the word distortion correctly but that is...
