Fiio E11 Questions and Ideas: [Fiio E11 Modding thread?]
what about the inductor around the input and output idea? 5 or 7 turns of wire wrapped around the signal wires. So the silver part around theamp is aluminum? I just thought it was just more plastic.- makasin

Fiio E11 Questions and Ideas: [Fiio E11 Modding thread?]
How would it decrease sound quality? And would just simply having some aluminum foil on both sides connected to battery ground (or the little pin sticking out of the USB port which I assume is "chassis ground") help a little? Also, what about the ferrite beads or winding magnetic wire 5 or 7...- makasin

Fiio E11 Questions and Ideas: [Fiio E11 Modding thread?]
So i just connected the iphone 4s to the e11 and its unacceptable. On my nano 6G it is amazing. It bring detail, clarity and really amazing impact (especially with bass combined with a high frequency hit). When I launch Audiogalaxy, I hear all the blipping and blopping like you would when you...- makasin

Fiio E11 Questions and Ideas: [Fiio E11 Modding thread?]
hey, so I have been using the E11 with L9 LOD to my ipod nano 6G and koss KSC35, ksc75 and it sounds great. Also sounds good with Grado SR225i and Apple IEMs, awaiting my TDK BA200s. However when I switch to my iphone 4s, I get some RF interference. I am wondering. Has anyone actually opened up...- makasin

The Xonar Essence STX Q/A, tweaking, impressions thread
Ok so I plugged the analog output directly into my power amp and its singing beautifully. No pops or click at any point in the switching or when the computer is powering on. This was happening to my M-audio 1010LT so I was concerned about blowing my speakers since the amp is very powerful(250...- makasin

The Xonar Essence STX Q/A, tweaking, impressions thread
Yeah, well that would mean that the amp+speakers is basically a set of powered speakers, which makes sense. Im just trying to see if the volume control on the board is good quality and whether or not there are any popping or clicking sounds associated with turning the computer on/off or...- makasin

The Xonar Essence STX Q/A, tweaking, impressions thread
Do you guys know if the analog outputs can be used as a preamp to a speaker power amp? I have a Yamaha M60 power amp and also the C85 preamp for it but I was wondering if I could bypass it and go directly to the power amp? WOuld this be a good idea? Also, is there any popping sounds associated...- makasin

Brainstorming a modified Cmoy for KSC-75s
OK guys, so I am looking to build a DIY amp mostly for on the go but also for sitting in bed listening to my HD650s. I was thinking of having a gain of 5ish and not using a potentiometer, just using the volume controls on my iPhone. In doing this I hope to be able to play things lower on my...- makasin

Macbook Pro vs Iphone soundcard/DAC
Ok guys, I know having a dedicated DAC and amp is ideal and I already have both, but I am studying in the library at my University (UCSD) and I have the Koss KSC75's. I am wondering, which audio out would you recommend to use over the other. The headphone jack of my Macbook Pro 2.5Ghz w/ 512MB...- makasin

Bose AcoustiCrap Cube Speakers Mod?
Hey guys, I\'m probably gonna get flamed for posting about Bose in an audiophile forum but here goes nothing. Amp recommendations for HD650 with Asus laptop as source
I used to have an Asus V6V when I got the HD650s and I had the ol' TBAAM as well. I upgraded to the HeadAmp Gilmore Lite and its treating me amazingly well. The sound is so clean and everything is tight and crisp. Since the TBAAM has a builtin amp that sucks (relatively to a real dedicated amp)...- makasin

Headphone out or Line-Out pass through from GLite to speakers?
Ok so Ive got my headphone rig (HD650 and Gilmore Lite with AlienDAC). I just bought a new pair of M-Audio AV40 small studio monitors. They have their own amp built into the speakers. My question is, what would sound better? Using the pass through on my gilmore so it gets fed the AlienDAC's...- makasin

Recommend me some 2.1 speakers
Take a look at the M-Audio AV40s, they are 2.0 speakers but put out enough bass so you dont really need the .1. They are designed for sound producers in mind, so they sound pretty well balanced (maybe leaning more towards lower end, but the highs are great too) and they can go surprisingly loud... -
HD650's a good choice?
I dont really believe that the HD650s have one note bass. Even on a 5g ipod or other unassisted headphone jack, the cans sounds quite good and the bass is pretty good and prevalent. However, when you connect it to a real amplifier, the sounds really comes alive. When plugged into my amp and DAC...- makasin

Grado SR325i compared to SR80 and RS2?
Id say if you want something like the RS2s but dont wanna shell out so much cash, go for SR225. The 225s are very smooth and not as harsh as the 325i can be. Plus, they sound closer to RS2 than 325 would.- makasin
