Xin Supermacro IV and RSA Tomahawk
I am very interested in hearing what you have to say about each of these amps after some serious burn in. I'd also be interested in auditioning them sometime if you are game (since we are both in LA). -- David- debrey

Well recorded hip-hop
Second Missy Albums. Really, anything recent or remastered. The Biggie Ready to Die Remaster is quite good, I think. I agree that hip hop often seems to me to have some of the best production, period. Some of the older stuff could use a remaster, but really, it is quite excellent. -- David -
Poll: HD30GB9 vs. iMod vs. 5G iPod
I bought an iMod and a Go-Vibe and they sound great together. I plan to upgrade the Amp at some point but, as far as I can tell, it isn't lacking. I think your LDM+ and PA2V2 would be quite enjoyable. But more importantly, a lot of people here think that the super-micro is the best sounding...- debrey

iPod with iMod / Shure E500 and What Amp / Dock ?
Do a search on here for the iMod. I have seen a number of people say that they have never heard a better sounding DAP and some say that they couldn't imagine a better sounding one. -- David- debrey

iPod with iMod / Shure E500 and What Amp / Dock ?
I would definitely suggestion option B. My guess is that it would sound better. But, perhaps even more importantly, it'll be easier to upgrade should you desire to do so down the road. Once you had a ALO and iMod and a top line amp, you would pretty much have the best possible set up. If you...- debrey

iPod with iMod / Shure E500 and What Amp / Dock ?
I just got my iMod, and it is great, strongly, strongly suggested. If you get an iMod, the headphone jack becomes a line-out and the dock connector is disconnected. So instead of getting a dock connector, you want to get a nice mini-to-mini. A lot of people around here really like Ken's stuff...- debrey

Christmas portable setup
Spending more on the interconnect than the Amp seems strange to me. I've normally seen people saying 10% on IC and around 40-50% for the Amp and headphones. I would say get a Belkin IC and a better amp. Also buy used! I got my Shure E5's for 225. -- David- debrey

Well recorded hip-hop
I find that lots of more recent good hip hop has great production. I found it useful when testing out headphones... You get the subtlty of echos, oversampling, and all sorts of beautiful production. Some good places to look: Quasimoto The Unseen (I heard a lot of new stuff for the first... -
A very long three hours: waiting for a mini-mini
v5. Having spent money on a new iPod and iMod, I was trying to keep costs down. Plus I'm not sure if I'm quite ready for swaping op-amps... -- David- debrey

A very long three hours: waiting for a mini-mini
Hey thanks, I ended up going with the Vakaadoo and the Headroom Gigabag. So I don't even need to post pictures of my portable -- I can just refer them to your pictures Actually, after I sent the message I realized that I needed to charge the iPod anyway so it was probably for the best...- debrey

A very long three hours: waiting for a mini-mini
I got home today and sitting on my doorstep is my new iMod and my new GoVibe 5. Unfortunately, I don't have my new mini-mini yet. As a back up, I was going to use the 5 dollar mini-mini that we use in the car to attach the iPod to the stereo. But my wife has the car for the next three hours. So...- debrey

Shure E5 s E4
As a non-expert... I tried the Shure E4s out at a local store and ended up buying used E5's. The E5 definitely felt very different to me -- I was told that this was because of the dual drivers. It was almost disorienting for me at first but it definitely felt like there was a lot more there...- debrey

PLEASE !!!! headfier needs help finding remote for ipod
A completely different solution would be to get a gigabag which has a clear plastic face so you can control the iPod from within the bag (removing the need for the remote): http://www.headphone.com/products/sy...g-charcoal.php -- David- debrey

Is Xin still in business?
To set the delays in context, as I understand it, Xin wasn't happy with the new 4 channel amps and told anyone that they could send theirs in for free upgrades. That seriously slowed down production. But this seems to me like incredible customer serivce. Think about how much money he lost doing...- debrey

Looking for the Perfect iPod case: controls accessible, small
Hey Spaceman... I like the look of those, but I'd prefer something that lets me use the iPod without taking it out of the case. That's the main problem with the camera cases as I see it. -- David- debrey

Looking for the Perfect iPod case: controls accessible, small
Argh! I can't decide what to do! I think I'll like the Go-Vibe better (so hard to say just from written descriptions). But I don't want an overstuffed bag -- I want it to fit comfortably. Probably I'll just get the LDM+ and be done with it. I really liked the Shure's over the Ety's, which...- debrey

Looking for the Perfect iPod case: controls accessible, small
Thanks! So your Contour case and Portaphile fit in there alright, it was just a bit off center, right? So hopefully a Vaakadoo (or smaller) case and a Go-Vibe should work. -- David- debrey
