It's not a firmware issue. Region "J" = Japan, no other language offered. You need to change to a different region w/ the destination tool.- QsTree

Have tried Japan FW but was not able to get EQ working via Bluetooth. Btw, as long as no factory reset is done all new features are available. As soon as a factory reset is done also the language will change...- QsTree

Yes, working & nice additional features (eg record function, generation of playlists). But... Be aware that in case of a factory reset the language get switched to Japanese. Can be changed but you need to find the correct folder (eg using the userguide).- QsTree

Follow the link https://www.rockbox.org/wiki/SonyNWDestTool You need to download the tool (both, win & linux are available) and you need to follow the instruction to remove the volume cap by changing the language area. I have tried Japan as language --> worked fine. Line in rec and playlist...- QsTree

I can't recommend to use a silicone case from A40 for A50. The geometry and buttons are different. Have had the A40 and now the A50 and have orderned a new case to have a perfect fit. If you can accept that the silicon case not perfectly match than you can go for an A40 case.- QsTree

Nice one but the battery life of only 13h would be a NO GO for me. Hence I still prever the A55.- QsTree

Also for me it worked fine on Win7. The time error displayed on several mp3 tracks has been corrected. Fixed automatically at first boot up. Iuse a 256GB extension and have the feeling that boot up time has improved by some seconds. The creation of the database seems faster but I can be wrong- QsTree

A45 isn't offering blind button access. FM stations can be changed only via the screen. Ordered the A55 via AccessoryJack, hope to receive it tomorrow by FedEx- QsTree

Absolutely, SonyNWDestTool is easy to use and the results are great. The volume uncap is huge (at least for EU) and the playlist feature is great.- QsTree

Well, if you have the money --> go for both, you will love both. I have both. You will find pros and cons on both players. Sound wise I would not spend the £300 more. The sound of the P1 is slightly better but not significantly. You need very good hires material and also high quality...- QsTree

Unfortunately you can't turn it to MANUAL. Even worse, I had the issue that despite the automatic update some cover pictures were not updated. It was necessary to start an manual update of the database via the settings menu. Maybe the automatic database scan can be deselected by an upcoming F/W...- QsTree

Here we go! Just download the UCI sample zip file and extract the fla & swf files + sub folder to Cowon PD \system\Flash UI Just the same concept known from S9 & J3. I just tried an old UCI from the J3. It works but adaptions will be necessary ... So let the games begin ...- QsTree

This "feature" was introduced by firmware V2.12 and so far it is not possible to deactive this function. Of course you can use a FW < 2.12. - If headphone/earphone is unplugged when the volume is higher than standard, automatically reset to standard volume(hearing protection)- QsTree

It seems that the PD offers 10 fixed playlists. Does somebody knows if they can be renamed? One the P1 & M it is possible. In case that this it not possible I hope that this feature will be part of one future firmware update.- QsTree

As far as I know Cowon has no special players for the european market. Maybe special F/W variants but usually you can install each related firmware. No matter whether it is available in Japan, Korea, Europe, USA, etc. etc. I never had problems installing different F/W on Cowon players. i4, i5...- QsTree

I just wonder whether or when there will be an UI available like the ASUCI. Different ASUCI UIs are already available for the S9, J3, X7, M, P1, S I really like the V3:FLAT design on the M, P1 & S, would be great to see something similarly also on the PD ...- QsTree

I just made a quick comparision between the P1 (FW2.15) and the D (FW1.10b1). Boot time: P1: ~11 sec. (95GB FLAC & mp3 on internal memory) D: ~ 11 sec. (without SD card, 4 standard FLAC files on internal memory) D: ~ 17 sec. (23GB on 64GB SDXC1 SanDisk Ultra) Display: P1: bright...- QsTree
