Thank you for your review of the cable! For me it would come down to either the Shure adapter/mic cable (I really don't want to take an exacto knife to my e500 plug) or the ALO cable. Even with the hassle of powering down the iPhone, having to deal with background hiss would be even worse so...

Any new updates on this? I'm just curious to see if there are any plans to make this available for purchase in the near future.

I agree with Anointed in that the difference between listening amped vs unamped is really small ... more like turning on a lamp in an already lighted room. With my E500 connected to SMIV it sounds really nice and bright but then connecting directly to the headphone out on the ipod ... it sounds...

It's not a very complicated stand compared to the others that swt61 has done, but I'm still impressed with it. He does truly amazing work and I really recommend him to those looking for custom stands.

Just got my e500s in today and the first thing that I noticed when running it straight from an ipod was that there's a background hiss. Has anybody else noticed this and is this normal? Other than that it's a sweet sounding iem. Lots of detail.

Stumbled across this site after looking at some electronics websites. I was looking for some diy soldering projects when I came across a blueprint for making one of those amps that fit in a altoids tin. From there I visited head-fi which led me to get a HD-650 followed by a Meier Audio Headfive...
