Honestly yes. The amp is obviously more powerful that regular line-out but IMO the line out had a generally better sound.

And yes it has enough power to power both but the AKG K240 MKII is a little more power hungry if you wanna get ridiculously loud 

Lol yeah this thing works straight out of my note 3 with an OTG cable. Full power too. So it now doubles as a portable :P 

I don't know about those things much but I heard about that self powered hub as well. I had the same issue of my laptop onboard sounding worse than my phone (note 3). Tbh flagship phones have really good audio. My phone DAC has a better soundstage than the E10K but the E10k has a tad bit more...

I would also like to mention that if you are coming from onboard audio like from a laptop it is a huge improvement in terms of clarity. Your phone might have a fairly good DAC as sony is famous for good audio. This is just speculation though.

I have had the CAL! 2 for a couple months now. The soundstage is huge for a closed headphone. It is a V-shaped sound signature but a simple EQ can make it sound neutral (I know audiophiles hate EQ though). It is bassier that the CAL 1 but the bass has better sub bass. It is full but not boomy...

Well this is a late post but I also did a mod to the CAL! 2. It is a mod that was done to the original CAL as well. The taper mod (stuffing the inside of the earcups, behind the earpads, to push them outwards) works great but because it moves the drivers away from your ears you will need more...

This weekend I received my Fiio E10k and the improvement from onboard laptop audio was pure bliss. The soundstage opened up ever so slightly. It also added certain airiness to the sound which I could hear from vocals and cymbals. They seemed to ring off or decay into the distance. The bass...

I would estimate around 70 to 80 dB and I hear the extra ring from cymbals. I adore that extra ring from the cymbals. It adds a certain sparkle that envelopes me in the music. I know it is picky but it matters to me. 

I do actually hear that high. No louder than 21kHz though. I have tried signal generators. But I have music (mainly metal) that the cymbals extend higher than 20kHz to ranges of 21kHz to 22kHz. It is not only me I have tested with a few of my friends. There is a better ring off into the distance...

What is the frequency response range of this DAC/Amp? Is it really 20Hz - 20kHz because the E07K goes from 10Hz to 220kHz (taken from Fiio website) I have music that goes higher than 20kHz so will these frequencies be left out. I am really new to the audio world and have had no experience with...

Oh wow. This seems really promising. I have been meaning to find a DAC/Amp for my CAL! 2 at a reasonable price. I was considering the dragonfly but if this is so close in sound clarity at a lesser price then I am so getting this.
