Thanks Andy for the transparency. The N3Pro is a special DAP, whenever I find a pair of IEM being too clinical/cold/plain, I hook them up to the N3Pro, and I hear euphoric sound. Hope the N3Ultra keeps this strength. I agree with Twister6, just treat it like a big dongle with battery.

The FD7 is my favourite IEM by Fiio too.

Hifiman’s approach in trickling down technologies from high end models to the budget models, and reducing the prices as sales volume increase, really helped bringing high fidelity to the mass market.

My favorite Fiio products in 2022: M17 - desktop performance FD7 - fluid, euphoric. My fav single DD, even more than Turii or Zen Pro. FH5S - one of the most underrated IEM. Neutral and detailed. Heard these in 5 occasions, only once the treble was hot as reported by others. My own copy is...

I love the open back designs of recent Fiio iems, kind of like listening to full-sized headphones.

On its own, the V14 sounds pretty good, but after putting the Tiger on, the “flaws” of the V14 really shows. Having said that, the V14 does have an edge in treble resolution, which to me is not that important, as the Tiger on its own is already hitting up the resolution chart.

The Tiger has a less bloated bass than the V14, it’s better integrated with the mids. The bass of the Tiger is more even. To my ears, the Tiger is the best tuned QDC. More natural, euphoric and musical than the V14.

Someone who owns both the XV and the 14 and now the Tiger said the Tiger is better than both! I will have the chance to demo it on 2nd Jul.

Into my 3rd week with the S12, switching between Tea, S12, T3+, 846 and a few others. After listening to S12, the rest sounds “dirty”. If I were to describe the S12 sound in one word, it would probably be “clean”.

Well, one can make a headphone more euphoric by matching with the right components, but can’t make a colored headphone sound clean. So it’s a good thing. Glad that you like the S12 with a tubeamp, I think I’ll take the same path. Thanks!
