    HiBy R5 Gen 2 - Class A headamp, Dual ES9219C, 35h playtime, MQA 16x, open Android

    What are your thoughts on terms of sound quality versus the R5s? I'm on the fence about either after the recent mini reviews..

    HiBy R5 Gen 2 - Class A headamp, Dual ES9219C, 35h playtime, MQA 16x, open Android

    Wavelet requires android 9 and up, I believe. Which currently is only on Hiby R6 2020 and a bunch of more expensive DAPs. It's funny because I was on the fence about buying a R5 Saber and the announcement of the R5 gen2 is what's making me take the plunge: I think it's going to be a great...

    R5, a new Android DAP by Hiby

    Ah I had heard something about a new model but wasn't sure whether they was true or not, I'll wait and see first then!

    1 week review of Sony NW-ZX507 (NW-ZX500 Series)

    As far as I understand, no. UAPP should indeed bypass the android OS limitations, but only when it can feed an external DAC. It has no way to engage the internal "DAC" of the player itself.

    Shanling M3X Portable Player - Our smallest Android Player

    Hello, I'm trying to decide between R5 Saber and Shanling M3X, is there any common or long-standing software or hardware issue with the M3X that I should factor in the decision?

    R5, a new Android DAP by Hiby

    Hello, I'm trying to decide between R5 Saber and Shanling M3X, is there any common or long-standing software or hardware issue with the R5 Saber that I should factor in the decision? I read about the battery issues in this thread but seems like they're related to the original R5 only, is that right?

    Hiby R3 Pro Portable Bluetooth DAP

    And right as I went to buy it, it went out of stock :sweat_smile: Do you think I could tame the treble of the Saber version by playing around with MSEB or should I look into something else if I wanted a slightly more musical sound?

    Hiby R3 Pro Portable Bluetooth DAP

    I'm looking at getting either of these, and I listen to a wide variety of music, including classical violin, post rock, house, metal and a bunch of other stuff. Which one would you think would be more versatile? I'm sort of leaning towards the original Pro but it seems a bit silly to essentially...

    Fiio X5 3rd gen || 2x AKM 4490 || Balanced Out || DSD || DXD | DTS | Android || Dual Card Slot

    Hello guys, I saw that the X5iii is now around ~200$ in China, which is pretty close to the current price of the Shanling M2x, Fiio M9, Hiby R3 pro. Would you think it's a better buy in terms of SQ and usability? Obviously the newer models have better BT codecs etc., but that's not really too...

    Quick comparison – Fiio M6 / Shanling M2X / Hiby R3

    Hello All, I recently had the opportunity to spend limited time with all 3 of these DAPs together and thought I’d share my preliminary thoughts about them. Since I didn’t have a lot of time, you should take my (short) impressions on sound with a very big grain of salt – I could not really...

    Shanling M2x - TIDAL || Wi-Fi || Both-way LDAC BT & BT Transmitter || Advanced USB transport || FW 2.7

    By the way @Shanling is the M2X line out a proper line out bypassing the internal amp or not? I don't think that I've been able to found this detailed in any of the promotional material or reviews.

    Shanling M2x - TIDAL || Wi-Fi || Both-way LDAC BT & BT Transmitter || Advanced USB transport || FW 2.7

    Ah, got it. Then yes, in theory you should be able to stream Tidal to the M2X using any wifi internet connection (like your home wifi or your phone hotspot). The caveats would be: - as far as I understand Tidal is going to be added in the global release firmware to come at a later date, so no...

    Shanling M2x - TIDAL || Wi-Fi || Both-way LDAC BT & BT Transmitter || Advanced USB transport || FW 2.7

    I am not sure that I understand your question perfectly: are you saying that you would like to send audio from your iPhone to the M2X via wifi? If so, I don't think that's possible unless there's some way for your iPhone to show itself as a DLNA source to the M2X on top of the hotspot (I don't...

    Earbuds Round-Up

    I would say your best bet would be to try and get a request up on Massdrop.. with a bunch of luck they might get Sennheiser to release a Massdrop version. If you do so, let us know: I would gladly add myself to the request.

    Earbuds Round-Up

    So, I've received the NiceHCK EBX and.. surprisingly I like it less than the EB2. Might have something to do with the fit, but I feel the highs are a bit too much (whereas the EB2 strikes a very good balance between extended and non-fatiguing) and does not correct the dip in the mids that I...

    Earbuds Round-Up

    Welcome! First of all, since it seems that you don't have much experience with earbuds, I think I should point out to you that earbuds normally have a series of issues which IEMs normally don't: mainly lack of isolation and lack of sub bass (and more generally attenuated bass). That means that...

    Hmm.. I'm biting haha, I'm trying to return the EB2. Out of curiosity, do you think that the EBX is superior to the Shozy Cygnus? They're listed for a very similar price..

    Earbuds Round-Up

    Hello guys, I received my NiceHCK EB2 last week and I find it very nice. My only issue is that it seems there is a dip somewhere in the mids that leads to vocals in particularly congested genres (such as metal and stoner rock) to be very recessed, to the point where I can't really listen without...

    Earbuds Round-Up

    I think it's fine, keep in mind there's no real agreement on how or whether to do burn in, so you just want to have the driver run for a while so that it in theory settles. Pink noise is the most scientific way to do that, and not running 24/7 is a good habit unless you want to stress test the...

    Earbuds Round-Up

    Hello guys, looking for a recommendation for something under 100$ and preferably around 50$ or less to use to listen to music in the office. No need for mic, would prefer a generally balanced sound with maybe a warm-ish tint and a slightly rolled off treble. My only point of reference in the...

    CanJam Shanghai 2018 Impressions Thread (November 3-4, 2018)

    Some impressions and constructive criticism: The show floor was well organized, and the amount of people was just right from a visitor's perspective; I didn't really have to queue to audition anything, when one or two stands were really full I just went to see something else and by the time I...

    I'm planning to drop in tomorrow, can I buy tickets on-site? I checked the online ticket tool but I think I understand that it wants to deliver me physical tickets and there's no way that they'll get here in time.
