The only one, that comes in my mind is the T90. It has a similar musicality and 3D / holographic - like soundstage, like the dt150 but without the in-hall effect of the dt150. If the k612 already hast too much treble for you, i would recommend you to try the k702 or k712. These are bassier and a little bit less treble happy but not by much. The k 400, k401, k500, k501 do have even more treble energy than the k612,so i can not recommend any of them for you. You may...

I did a lot of Mods with the 440 and 840, including a Beyerdynamic-Styled one but i was never 100% satisfied. Creaking Noises, too bulky to be portable (i only use the 440 and 840 as a portable, not at home) etc. Yesterday i was like "OMG lets get serious an do some crazy stuff ! "  . . ...

Open the cups and get aaaall that cotton wool out. In some models there is soooo much, that it sounds extremwly muffled. Once you did that, the sound changes drastically. More air, more instrument seperation, more soundstage and crystal cear sound. Its like night and day , everything improves...

I agree with both of you ;D i even prefer the 440 + 840 pads over the srh840, because of better bass (mote kick & texture). The 440 even sounds more detailed because of more treble energy. Its on par with the dt880 for me, even resolution wise. I really like the 440 in stock version unmodded...

I drive them right out of my sansa clip and ipod 5 Video 5G and even Galaxy S3, without a portable amp ;D Because the 440 (imo) gets enough Juice from them, hell its even too loud for me XD   For of the Bassy-Neutral Topic:   The diffference is really big. Not as small as like AKG K501...

  Thats, what really dissapointed me. I don't know who brought this whisper in, when the K812 came out . . . but its untrue. For me, the K812 is still very hard to drive, like all AKGs of the K Series are. My T90 is  6x louder than my K812. K812 is almost as loud as a K601/701/Q701/K812 etc...
