What a long, strange trip it's been -- (Robert Hunter)
Another issue with computer vs transport for me is the noise my computer makes. It is in a fairly sealed box made to be quiet but it is not a music server. All drives are SSD but graphics and cpu coolers do make some noise. If i am not listening critically or I am downloading I am quite happy...- franzdom

I did the same but they don't sound as good as played on a good transport, it's probably the weakness of a Lite-On DVD drive in my computer, or whatever cheap ass thing it is. Mostly it's close but some space is lost and occasional noise exists from rips that isn't there direct from CD to ears.- franzdom

Happy as a Pig in Schiit: Introducing Modi Multibit
On the last question, they are sonically similar, the difference is in power supply quality and the ability or non-ability to upgrade.- franzdom

Schiit Jotunheim Review / Preview - Head-Fi TV
I think I may prefer the Jot. I have a lot of very nice tubes too but the Jot has a darker floor and I love that. Honestly it's so good it's hard to tell the difference. And I have to say I vastly prefer the Jot over LISST tubes.- franzdom

Schiit Jotunheim Review / Preview - Head-Fi TV
Really really well, never bright, very excellent bass and way more power and damping than the XC needs. I love running balanced cables to take full advantage and to me it sounds a lot better than SE. It is SS endgame in my humble opinion, to go with a closed can possible end game.- franzdom

Just an interested observer here, but would you mind explaining what you are saying? 1. Anyone have any thoughts or experience on whether the MJ2 is worth double the price of the Jot when paired with (insert Schiit DAC here) to drive Audeze LCD 100 ohm headphones and active studio monitors...- franzdom

No, very similar setups here and you definitely won't do better with MJ for the money or even not, unless you want exotic tubes.- franzdom

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up
Headphone & speakers (and all other sources) are near Jot which I am using for volume control, so it is a no go. Anyway, I am happy with Mani > 25' RCA > Jot.- franzdom

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up
This is really good information. My turntable is on the other end of a large room and goes right into Mani then a 25' RCA to Jot. I was thinking about simplifying the lineup by having Jot-phono combo but it looks like what I would be happier with Mani next to TT. So much great info here, never...- franzdom

The Lyr properly done will cost you a LOT more than the Jot. However balanced is really nice and tubes are sometimes over rated. I moved from Lyr2 to MJ2 and it was a good move. I then bought Jot and listen to it more than to tubes. Jot is >>> Lyr2 or MJ2 with LISST. It is not simple.- franzdom
