The foobar2000 help thread. Got problems or questions? Ask here!
I would try to use KS or ASIO and see what happens. I typically use KS for all of my stuff and have never had a problem. I mean there isn't a good way to check most dacs but my dragonfly always lights up correctly. How are you measuring the output? I would like to try this. I have the same...- ComradeDylie

Cable Repair
I have a cable that the right channel is not working on. I am not sure if the issue lies with the XLR connection or the mXLR connection. Is there an easy way to find out? Where would a good place be to send it off for repair?- ComradeDylie

MODDING: Is it possible to reshell something like QC-20?
Im assuming that it would not be possible, but some CIEMs have ambient noise ports so I was thinking maybe it could be done by utilizing something like that. Also wondering if its possible to reshell bluetooth enabled IEMs or if there was someway to extract the bluetooth electronics from a pair...- ComradeDylie

Haha no the soldering iron was to fix the Clip Zip headphone jack, since it doesn't really seem like there is anything comparable out there.- ComradeDylie

Need Help Picking a Good Replacement Player
Yeah it looks like it is about the size of an iPod classic, is that about right? Does it really have a balanced output? That would be neato. But I guess its time to whip out the soldering iron and hope for the best.- ComradeDylie

Need Help Picking a Good Replacement Player
Well I mean I would gladly use another Clip Zip but I cant find any haha. I used to have an iPod with Hifi M8 modded for IEMs, much preferred the Clip Zip (honestly it doesn't get enough credit, the sound is great). Budget isnt the issue. Its just that the DX50, 90 etc, are so much bigger...- ComradeDylie

Need Help Picking a Good Replacement Player
Ok so I have really loved using my rockboxed Clip Zip for the last few years. I took good care of it and the jack lasted until recently. Now its having issues and I guess its time for a replacement. Im looking for something with similar flat sound characteristics and portability. I...- ComradeDylie

Finally found a purpose for 24/32bit 192kHz!!!
http://www.musicforcats.com/ They have one song, Padma's Love, in 24/96 but not sure if there is anything going on above the human hearing range since that would be hard to for a human to make lol. But if they are putting in content above then they need to make the move to 192 kHz so that...- ComradeDylie

Headphones on Empire
Does anyone else watch and notice which headphones they are using? They used akg k240s almost exclusively for season 1. Season 2 has a lot more variety. Frieda was using some grados, not sure which ones...rs1s? The ones that I really don't recognize are Jamal's closed grey ones- ComradeDylie

Referencesounds/LFF's modded HE-5 >Code-X< thread
Are the numbers on the cans anywhere lol? Honestly I dont know how hifiman rookie does it with that beast of an amp. These things are so easy to drive...I cant imagine that you can turn the volume up much on that thing. Dont get me wrong I have turned mine up pretty loud before and it...- ComradeDylie

LFF Paradox Slant and the "Starving Student"
I am using an NFB-28 right now, portable on a HiFi m8 with IEM mod, and even my Clip Zip. I would say that these are very easy to drive. The Clip's volume has to be pushed near max but honestly it sounds pretty good. The NFB-28 is a bit overkill, I have no need to ever go above 50% or so...- ComradeDylie

Xonar DG doesnt output Dolby Headphone over Optical...which cards do this?!
My main reason for switching inputs on the DAC instead of Windows is to prevent any issues from 2 applications trying to use the same sound device. I set my output in foobar to KS, if another application tries to use the same audio device it doesnt work. This way I have foobar doing KS only...- ComradeDylie

I have an NFB 28, but they work the same way... Anyhow I used the info in this thread to get my dsd working... Now heres the thing that I dont understand: Before following the instructions and getting foobar set up properly I would get no sound from playing a DSF file. I set...- ComradeDylie

Xonar DG doesnt output Dolby Headphone over Optical...which cards do this?!
In an effort to get this working I switched over to the UNi drivers so i am actually using the C-Media Panel. But in both of them I was able to select Dolby Headphone without ticking the 7.1 box, so long as headphone output was selected on the analog side.- ComradeDylie

Xonar DG doesnt output Dolby Headphone over Optical...which cards do this?!
Thanks I just logged in and changed my settings, hopefully when I get back home it works! I had been setting the default device to SPDIF pass-through, I have now set it to speakers. What does the 7.1 speaker shifter do? Would it work if that wasnt selected? If i had to guess...- ComradeDylie

Xonar DG doesnt output Dolby Headphone over Optical...which cards do this?!
Ok so I thought it would work with the Xonar DG (outputting Virtual Surround, in this case Dolby Headphone, over optical or coax) and I have seen others recommend this card as one that is a good bet to do this. Well after trying and trying, Ive decided that it is not possible, at least with...- ComradeDylie

Audiophile Headphones with ModMic = Great Computer Headset, Anyway This Set Up Can Be Used as Phone Headset?
Basically Im wanting to use my k702 annies and modmic at work as my phone headset. The first thing that seems to be an issue is creating a cable that would work, since the headset connects via RJ-11. I think this is doable unless someone knows better. Does anyone know where I can find...- ComradeDylie

LFF Paradox Slant and the "Starving Student"
The main difference between Slant and Original is the bass from having heard my Slants and reading many other reviews of the original as having "anemic bass". All I know is that the Slants are anything but anemic. I haven't heard them back to back but the Slants are supposed to have a more...- ComradeDylie

The Centrance HiFi M8 thread
Ya know its weird, I had the noise present with my JH13s but I got the IEM mod and it went away. I was doing some testing and it seems to stay gone even if I go to higher gains. I can imagine that high gain post mod is less power than low gain pre mod. The only thing I can figure is that...- ComradeDylie

NEWS: Apple acquires Beats for $3 Billion (Update: Full interview on recode.net)
Perfect match for apple. They get a great streaming service, MOG 2.0, to help flesh out their iTunes offerings package. The sound quality on beats is not that bad. There is a premium paid for style and logo but all things considered the beats lineup is a big sq improvement for apple...- ComradeDylie

$1000 Challenge - List your best amp/headphone pairing that can be had for $1000 or less
Im just saying the best combos for 1000 will be skewed towards easier to drive high end phones paired with over performing value amp/source. All I mean by that is no combo with a D2000 will be "best headphone/amp pairing for $1000." Not picking on D2000 here either, no combo with ATH-M50...- ComradeDylie
