New up-frequency player software HI-Player, better sound quality, smaller size, lower power consumption
I’ve had it running on a 2014 i7 MacBook Pro without any issues but I don’t have a specific anti virus running. Does the virus virus scanner create a log file that you can take a look at?- rettib2001

New up-frequency player software HI-Player, better sound quality, smaller size, lower power consumption
Thank you for the quick reply. I’m using a Gustard u18 DDc which feeds a Musician Pegasus via i2s. For some reason hi-player is saying that the Gustard doesn’t support 512dsd but it does. Is this a limitation of Mac OS (Mac mini m2) or a communication problem between hi-player and the Gustard u18?- rettib2001

New up-frequency player software HI-Player, better sound quality, smaller size, lower power consumption
Hi , I’ve been using the app for a few days now and it really does sound great. Could you maybe provide a remote control app for iOS/andoid at some point? I know you have implemented DLNA but the sound quality isn’t the same as playing directly through the hi-player app.- rettib2001

Shanling ET3 - Dedicated Digital CD Transport, With USB Drive and Wi-Fi Support
HI, I just tried to update the firmware from 1.5 to 1.6 via usb (local) and got the message 'Update Failed'. Now when I turn the power switch at the back of the unit only the small blue LED at the front lights up nothing else... If there a way to solve this?- rettib2001

Shanling ET3 - Dedicated Digital CD Transport, With USB Drive and Wi-Fi Support
Hi, I’ve had, and have been enjoying, the et3 since last summer. A question suddenly dawned on me though, do we know anything about the power supply? Is there a smps inside the case or is it a more sophisticated power supply? There is no fuse on the iec cable input from what I can tell.- rettib2001

Shanling ET3 - Dedicated Digital CD Transport, With USB Drive and Wi-Fi Support
Thanks for the reply. I use the Eddict player purely as a remote control (via sync link) for files stored on a usb drive (sounds better than streaming via upnp/dlna). I can download artwork via the album art search option for one track as it playing but I can’t see a way of adding artwork for...- rettib2001

Shanling ET3 - Dedicated Digital CD Transport, With USB Drive and Wi-Fi Support
Still very much enjoying the ET3 as an all-in-one transport. I have two suggestions that coud be classed as 'in the future that would be great'. 1) Ugrading the airplay support to airplay 2 as is sorts out latency and stability issues. I've done this on linux based systems by updating...- rettib2001

Hello, Volume control doesn’t seem to work with Airplay (the slider goes up and down but doesn’t effect the volume), is this by design or would there possibly be a way of adding it to a future update?- rettib2001

Thanks for the more detailed manual. I'm surprised at how much I'm using the ET3s streaming functionality, it works really well. I'm also using it with an Apple TV 4K as an Airplay receiver. It works great with most apps... apart from Youtube which I believe requires Airplay 2 on the Apple TV...- rettib2001

Shanling ET3 - Dedicated Digital CD Transport, With USB Drive and Wi-Fi Support
I’m currently using the i2s output of the ET3 into a Musician Pegasus and upsampling to dsd512. It works perfectly for both CD and upnp/dlna (using both MConnect and JPLAY iOS). However I’m also experimenting using the USB output into a Gustard U18 (DDC) then into the Pegasus via i2s. This path...- rettib2001

Shanling ET3 - Dedicated Digital CD Transport, With USB Drive and Wi-Fi Support
Hi, I received an ET3 yesterday and I’m really enjoying it so far. I have a question: If two outputs are connected, for example USB and i2s do they both receive a signal or is there a way of selecting which output the audio signal is sent to? If not that would be a great feature to add in a...- rettib2001

Gustard U18
The good news is that the two work together automatically with just a standard hdmi cable. You can select the ‘mode’ on the U18 which does effect the sound and you have to check speaker phase. When you look at the the ‘mode’ diagram for the pin out of the U18 and compare it to the one on the...- rettib2001

Gustard U18
I’m just about to order an avplay hdmi i2s cable which will go between the U18 and a Musician Pegasus. I thought I knew which ‘Plan’ to choose but now I’m not sure, given the 7 phase options the Pegasus has and the the 4 modes of the U18. The U18 is set to mode 4 which seems to correspond to...- rettib2001

Gustard H20 headphone amp
Precisely the answer I was looking for, thanks! I’m currently running the Sparkos but when coupled with the Hypex amp it’s a little analytical/sterile sounding. Think I’ll order a few others. I’ve actually heard good things about Orange jfet opamps, has anybody tried those?- rettib2001

Gustard H20 headphone amp
Hi, I’ve been using the h20 as a preamp lately, feeding into a Hypex class D amp to control volume. I can’t figure out if in this scenario the signal is affected by the opamps or if the preamp output bypasses them entirely? I could do with knowing before doing any opamp rolling. Thanks in...- rettib2001

Musician Audio Pegasus R2R DAC
I live in Bordeaux where Audiophonics is based, before the pandemic I used to just drive 10 minutes and pick things up directly I was great. I’m at a bit of a crossroads and despite not being the most active of posters, I have followed this thread from the beginning and have grown to respect the opinions voiced here.
