Meze 99 Classics Discussion + Impressions Thread
I have similar experience. I got a pair of Dekoni ATH-50 pads and they were absolutely horrible. I put them on the HP50, they were very uncomfortable and the bass just disappeared. I also tried a pair of HM5 hybrid, very comfy but due to the thickness and the perforation, they neutralized the...- BubbleChamber

Directional SPeaker Cable
I am experimenting with DIY speaker cable and have a question. How do you make speaker cable directional? And does it make any difference? Please advice.- BubbleChamber

Head Fi What have you done to me?
Head Fi has done nothing but good for long time Audiophiles IMO. Used to pay double the price for gears at a local store with limited selections. Not only there are more selections and better price, but offers the opportunity for individuals to trade for their dream systems at any budget. Also...- BubbleChamber

Arcam Apollo Review
There is a thread in Audiogon regarding the Apollo. Everyone seems to have no doubt it's one of the best in the $1000 range. However a few are reporting software and operation glitches. Celestion, KEF, Canton, Mission to name a few. Yes, I have an inclination toward British manufacturers(except Canton which is made in Germany). Just feel that British speakers gives more details and better imaging. I would stick with bookshelves, they are more versatile. Shipping for... -

600$-1000$ : what source at the moment ?
You might want to check out the Unison Research Unico CD Player (not the CDP Player, CD and CDP are different). The Unico CD is a tube player and it has a digital input so I assume you can use it as a DAC as well. It runs around $1000 used.- BubbleChamber

Any Way to Improve Power with Old Wiring?
Ok, your protector does have the EMI/RFI filter. You might not hear any noise, but interference degrades the sound quality. Next thing you might want to find out is if the circuit to your rig shares with any other heavy duty appliances and/or has a heavy load, such as sharing with all your... -

There is supposingly a 3rd party foobar add-on for bluetooth remote control (foo_bluetooth_ctrl). However it only works with 0.8, not 0.9. I've got it loaded on my laptop but haven't tried it yet because I am still waiting for my BT adapter for my laptop. I also have a z520. Here is the...- BubbleChamber

I am using a dell 8200 with the S/PDIF-video TV adapter that comes with my laptop(tons of them are available on ebay for $5). My 8200 has the Crystal WDM soundcard. I connect the adapter to the TV-out of my laptop and use a coax cable to my DAC. It sounds mighty awesome on both iTune and Foobar...- BubbleChamber

Foobar vs Media Player
Thanks for the inputs. I don't have a problem with Foobar's simple interface for playback. In fact, I like simplicity. The problem I am having is Foobar's not so user friendly CD ripping process. Please forgive my stupidity, but I still couldn't figure out how to update/change file/song...- BubbleChamber
