The JVC HA-S500 thread.
Okay, so I received my second pair of JVC HA-S500 and as promised I will share my experiences regarding burn in. I've had pair A for 5 weeks. I've listened to them for roughly 4 hours every weekday, a lot more on the weekends. I'd estimate I've got at least 150 hours on them. Pair B arrived...- Orkboy

Shure SE535: Reviews and First Impressions Thread
I've mentioned this on a few other Shure IEM threads but if anyone's not happy with the stock tips I recommend Klispch Gels. Personally I get a better seal than the olives or foams, they're not as long so the drivers sit closer to the ears and the casing is more flush. They're more comfortable...- Orkboy

The JVC HA-S500 thread.
Anyway, I'm still very disappointed with the Adidas pads. I really wish they would sound and feel as good as they look. I think if JVC made blue versions of the stock pads and changed to replaceable cables then these headphones would become my absolute favourite set.- Orkboy

The JVC HA-S500 thread.
It will never be an objective test, no matter how good my intentions are. Though I plan to recruit someone's assitance and attempt to repeteadly identify the 'fresh' pair from the 'burned' pair using only my ears in a blind a/b test, and though I will endeavour to dedicate an awful chunk of time...- Orkboy

I won't burn it in 24/7 but I will continue to use it every day, and I'll report my findings.- Orkboy

The JVC HA-S500 thread.
I got mine last week and I love them! I received the HD25 Adidas pleather pads this morning and I'm honestly disappointed. They feel very cheap compared to the stock pads, they're not as comfortable and they sound less open. I think the material isn't as good, the hole is too small, and the...- Orkboy

The AKG K550 Impressions and Discussion Thread!
How do you guys store your 550? I removed the plastic mould from the box and store them flat inside, so you can admire them through the box window. I normally throw the box away but this one is pretty nice and heavy duty, it might as well function as a case. I don't want to put it on a...- Orkboy

Razer Tiamat 7.1 Issues
I used my Tiamat 7.1 straight from my MOBO for about a week. When I upgraded to a dedicated sound card the difference was huge. It may seem obvious, but have a look at the controller unit and make sure all channels have their volume set appropriately, you might have some muted. You might also...- Orkboy

Difference between the normal and the limited edition of Shure SE215
The SE215 do not have filters. The special edition comes with foam tips with built in wax guards (none of my other Shure IEMs came with these) but neither version has any sort of filter/damper. The difference in sound comes from the drivers.- Orkboy

Difference between the normal and the limited edition of Shure SE215
The ones they sent me are definitely legitimate. I did a little bit of research before buying from them, but everything I found was positive and some of those reviews were from head fiers.- Orkboy

Difference between the normal and the limited edition of Shure SE215
You won't be disappointed with the normal SE215, though I would say an extra £20 is definitely worth it for the special edition.- Orkboy

Difference between the normal and the limited edition of Shure SE215
I have both. To put it short the limited edition is bassier and has a shorter cable. There are more subtle differences, mids are not as recessed, but other than the bass the differences are small. I use the normal ones as my everyday IEMs and I'm very happy with them. I bought the limited...- Orkboy

The discovery thread!
They haven't done anything great in the music department because they haven't tried. Sure, they might market some of their headphones for music but it's clear they're designed for gaming. This Adaro line seems to be designed for music from the ground up, so let's see how they turn out. As for...- Orkboy

The discovery thread!
Seems to me like you're judging these before they've even come out. My experience with razer is that they make high quality peripherals but price them too steeply. It's true that they market their headphones with wild exaggerations of sound quality but then your username is thatBeatsguy so I...- Orkboy

Should i buy the Razer Orca headphones?
There's a lot of anger in this thread. I own the Tiamat 7.1 and I'm very happy with it. The build quality is superb, the whole thing is packaged and made like a premium product. The sound quality is good for its intended purpose: true surround sound in a closed headphone. All 10 drivers are...- Orkboy

Double amping
Thanks, you've given me some peace of mind. I'm actually going to hold off the K550 and get Grado SR80 for now, but I'll defninitely be looking towards the K550 and E11 combo soon after.- Orkboy

Double amping
Thanks that's really helpful. I'm feeling a little better about my planned purchase now. Do you think there would be any noticeable improvement in sound quality if the C2 had line out? In other words, do you ever think "this signal is clean, but it could be cleaner"?- Orkboy

In sound quality, which one is better?
The SE535 are very sensitive and sound great unamped. You might benefit from an amp a little, but it probably won't be cost effective, or you might just get extra hiss and no improvement. Of course an amp/dac is always good to have, especially if you're considering full size headphones as well.- Orkboy

Double amping
To me those both seem equally bad, but I have issues. A little audible extra noise that would otherwise not be present with a dedicated line out is indeed a deal killer for me. If the difference was so negligible like that review suggests then I'd be able to deal with it, but if I can actually...- Orkboy

Okay. Thanks for your replies. But back to double amping, has anyone had any success doing it with a cowon? Any thoughts on how it may compare to a dedicated line out?- Orkboy

The AKG K550 Impressions and Discussion Thread!
Thanks. That's a wise sentiment. Unfortunately due to serious ocd issues I'm not comfortable buying anything unless I know I'll be able to enjoy it at its absolute optimum. It's kind if why I was attracted to this hobby in the first place. I certainly don't want to spend £140 on something I'll...- Orkboy

The AKG K550 Impressions and Discussion Thread!
Hmm. Do I dare? I guess I'm just trying to make sure that I'll be able to squeeze the maximum amount of SQ from them with my current setup, maybe with a Fiio E11 for example, without needing to buy a new DAP with dedicated line out.- Orkboy
