Geek Pulse: Geek desktop DAC/AMP by Light Harmonics
Good question, I had never heard of the firmware or seen it on their website. LH Lab's email to me was the first I had heard of it.- dsound

Geek Pulse: Geek desktop DAC/AMP by Light Harmonics
I had a similar issue occur with my Geek Pulse X where it would no longer talk to my Mac. Submitted a ticket on 10/14, received a response on 11/8. Thankfully I had read about the wait-times on support tickets so I knew they were severely backlogged and didn't expect a quick turnaround. ...- dsound

Awesome. I still love my X-Can v1, can drive most anything that I throw at it pretty well. A couple years ago at a meet a fellow-headfier even liked the pairing between the X-Can and his AKG K1000 .- dsound

I love the CMOYBB, the Bass-boost provides a satisfying bump in the lower frequencies and it's a nice upgrade in clarity to the internal amp in the iPod Classic.- dsound

Yeah, I eventually upgraded. Nowadays for (trans)portable listening I use a macbook+dragonfly+(modded)Beyerdynamic T5p. The T5p's don't get much love here but I love'em.- dsound

That's a great setup; for years I would use an 80gb iPod + MDR-V6 + CMOYBB and didn't feel compelled to upgrade.- dsound

Parks Audio Budgie SE Build thread/Impressions
Quick update with LCD-2 Listening Impressions: This amp sounds phenomenal with the LCD-2. Compared with the amp. section of the Geek Pulse X, the Budgie SE renders greater detail in the Highs and Mids with more Bass impact. When I go from the Budgie SE to the Pulse X the latter seems...- dsound

Need advice for high end combo.
+1 Agreed. I'd say first figure out what sound signature you like in your headphones (Bassy/Neutral/Bright/Warm) then go from there since there's a TOTL headphone to suit each of those preferences.- dsound

Hopefully you kept your HD600's, while I agree that the LCD-2 is an upgrade, the HD600's have attributes that make them worth keeping IMO.- dsound

beyerdynamic T5p: Photos and first impressions.
I agree. For me they passed the ultimate test, working at Starbucks with background music + chatter. Sidenote: Jude explained to me that the TH900's are semi-open headphones, which is why they don't isolate too well.- dsound

Couple random thoughts to keep this thread alive: I'm listening to "Rain" from Kenny Barron + David Holland's album "The Art of Conversation" and it sounds amazing. I know it's been said before, but the T5p seems to love tube-amps (LH Pulse X feeding my Budgie SE amp). I am always...- dsound

I just received the Geek Pulse X this past Friday and have finally gotten the chance to listen to it through the LCD2f. Initial impressions are good (listening single-ended b/c I my balanced cable has not arrived yet). Can't wait to carve out some time to A/B it with my other amps.- dsound

Crack;Bottlehead OTL
Hi there, I had the same fear after completing my build. Nothing is wrong with your Crack IMO. On another forum I read that if the inputs are high impedance, this leads to a hum when nothing is connected. To solve the issue, just make sure that your source is connected. Hope that helps!- dsound
