I've given up trying to fit all my music onto a portable player (my H120 serves me just fine). Until they announce the 1TB iPod (which still would not hold half of my lossless), I'm satisfied.

I participated in a focus group earlier this year in which I tested these phones. I'll just say that the Shure E500 beat their top-of-the-line model handily, in both sound and comfort. I didn't care for the cords too much. They're like those on the Super/TripleFi line, where they bend.

Seems like Horwitz was positive in his initial impressions (edited original post to include it).

Even still, I'd probably take the UE-10 over the E500, mainly because of them being customs.

I think it's more than the "iLounge iPod" crowd, considering I'm not even a member of iLounge and am a iRiver person (even though I own an iPod). For me, at least, his reviews were influential in me purchasing the E500 and the AKG K701. I see from his reviews that our preferred sound...

He never stated his testing methods. Specifically, no one know if he uses mp3s or lossless (my guess is the latter). And although he said he tested it with his iPod, it doesn't mean that's the only thing with which he's tested.

Why don't you think the review has weight? I've always appreciated his careful attention and thoroughness analysis in his review of musical equipment.

I agree. I've received outstanding customer service from Jeanette. Good customer service is sometimes so hard to find, that's why when I get it I cherish it, and make sure to make note of it. Shure has equally good customer service.
