I'll bring a PanAm with Mullard tubes, an ifi iUSB, a dragonfly dac, and a Centrance HiFi-M8.

    IC: Vancouver mini-meet - Jul/Aug 2014

I'd also be interested. I missed the last meet because I was out of town. Any weekend works fine for me.

ALO Pan Am desktop/portable headphone amp/DAC: Impressions and Reviews

I couldn't agree more. A few weeks back I visited a local audiophile shop in Vancouver and tested some headphones out on a PanAm. I didn't like the sound. I A/B'd with my headphones (Heir 8.A) and my headphones sounded weak too!... The odd thing was that the PanAm is my main amp at home. Then I...

    Amarra - anyone using it?

It drives me crazy that I like Amarra's sound quality since their programming skills, at least as far as interface skills are concerned, show that the company do not know how to program. However, the EQ is very musical, so if I know exactly what I feel like listening to, then I generally fire up...

    Amarra - anyone using it?

No, you are not. Welcome to Amarra; welcome to 1980.

Mac OS X Music Players - alternatives to iTunes

JRiver Media Centre is now my main player on my Mac. I have Amarra, but the interface sucks. It really makes me question their ability to program. I also own Fidelia, but it lacks an EQ, unless you want to load a VST/AU.  While there is something smooth about Amarra's sound quality, I find that...

ALO Pan Am desktop/portable headphone amp/DAC: Impressions and Reviews

I had exactly the same impression at first with my Heir Audio 8.A IEMs. The amp was too bright with the stock tubes. The Mullards changed that. The bass is excellent, clear, and full, while the highs are slightly more subdued, in a pleasing way. If you find the unit too bright, the Mullards may...

ALO Pan Am desktop/portable headphone amp/DAC: Impressions and Reviews

Do you have the tube caps over the tubes? For my setup--sensitive IEMs--the tube caps are essential for limiting interference. I've added an iFi iPower unit as well, and while I get very little interference now, I do still occasionally have to reposition the PanAm due to some sort of...

Lightning Cables - Official and Custom (welcomed).

Do you sell these on the forum or on a website? I'm looking for a lightning to USB for an iphone 5 to HiFi M8.

PONO - Neil Youngs portable hi-res music player

Huge is relative... Although they are now over $2million, there are only 6 or 7 thousand backers, and some of those could very well be duplicates, people who wanted two devices, and several hundred people who donated $5 for a sticker or t-shirt. Another interesting aspect of the Kickstarter is...

ALO Pan Am desktop/portable headphone amp/DAC: Impressions and Reviews

When I first got the PanAm, I did have issues with interference. But, now I do not, and I'm not sure what exactly fixed my issues since my desk is a complete disaster. I have DJ equipment, studio monitors, iPads, an iPod, iPhone, and midi gear surrounding me which all likely contribute to noise...

ALO Pan Am desktop/portable headphone amp/DAC: Impressions and Reviews

Do you have the caps covering the tubes? I suggest you use them. With my setup, the PanAm is quite susceptible to EMI fields since it is close to my computer and various electronics on my desk. However, unplugging it during use and leaving the covers over the tubes helps reduce, if not...

[Review] Noble Audio Kaiser 10 - The Wizard Rises Again

Out of curiosity, why does the silicone line not have an equivalent to the k10? I had silicone tips for my W4 several years back and found the gel like finish helped the iem to mould to the ear for better isolation.

    A new CIEM

Any word (or guesses) on what the drivers are driving? bass, mid, high, super-high?

ALO Pan Am desktop/portable headphone amp/DAC: Impressions and Reviews

What are the sound characteristics of the CIFTE 5654? I have settled on the Mullards, and really love them. There is something sweet and open in the mids that makes the sound very expansive. But, the bass is not as punchy as the Centrance Hi-Fi m8. While I am very happy with the...

Centrance Hifi-M8 and Hifi-M8 LX (8 versions!) impressions thread

You're right. I just looked up that adaptor. Sorry about the misinfo. I thought the CCK was a dongle.

Centrance Hifi-M8 and Hifi-M8 LX (8 versions!) impressions thread

As it stands, iOS7 will work with a standard USB DAC, just as a computer would. But, you will need an interconnect that goes from a Lightning to USB type B connector, which are not available on the market. The workaround is to use the standard Lightning to USB type A connector plus a female...

ALO Pan Am desktop/portable headphone amp/DAC: Impressions and Reviews

@Dizzyd The Pan Am needs to be plugged in, either with the provided wallwart, or with the optional Passport battery pack or Gateway power module. I have the ifi iUSB, but its only function is to limit cycle hum and clean usb power. It sounds like what you need is the Pan Am and the Passport...

The Wizard Appreciation Thread - Long Live the Wizard - The former HA Appreciation Thread

Hey charpi, In that case, the rendition 1 might be best since it has been created with Heir Audio products in mind. However, like the Headstage, the Rendition 1 is not a DAC, but rather an amp with line in/out.  If you are looking for something that doubles as a DAC, you may want to check...

The Wizard Appreciation Thread - Long Live the Wizard - The former HA Appreciation Thread

If you are looking for something ultra portable, I'd recommend the headstage arrow. I use an iTouch, line-out cable, and the headstage arrow 3 as my portable driver for my 8.A ciems, and I love the combination. The headstage is not a DAC, but it sounds fantastic and has decent, subtle sound...

Mac OS X Music Players - alternatives to iTunes

With the basic version of Fidelia you can run AUs such as Apple's EQ. The isotope resampler also works when the volume is being attenuated. So, yes I think Fidelia will do all that you require.
