Comment by 'campj' on listing 'Sennheiser HD580'

As different from each other as the HD650 is from the HD6XX I suppose.

You're aware that the HD-58X are $150 new, right?

    The PENON official thread

People were also 'hearing' the difference between the JVC HA-FD01 metal inserts. And then someone measured them and they were all exactly the same. If people are permitted to promote something, I believe people should be permitted to challenge the claims. And as stated, I would bet my entire...

We're discussing the plating on the headphone jack I believe, not cables.

So someone is able to reply to me with a sarcastic meme, but I'm not allowed to reply in kind and state the facts? People who spend money on snake oil audiophile trickery are spending it on nothing... they simply like shiny things, similar to a fish.

I'd bet my entire life savings that not a single person on earth could truly tell the difference.

Drop (Massdrop) was just acquired by a PC components company

That'd be great news if this were a site dedicated to computer components I guess. I personally don't give a crap about computers, and really love the headphone section of Drop... not stoked about the acquisition.

Campfire Audio Vega (and Dorado and Lyra II) - Head-Fi TV

Haven't talked to them about the Cascade cable. Got my Vega tuned up with some E6000 industrial adhesive. Seems like it'll hold. Looked at the CA website and am foolishly considering buying some Mammoths. I'm an idiot.

Campfire Audio Vega (and Dorado and Lyra II) - Head-Fi TV

Like I said, I've got several other pairs of headphones that are cheaper and older than these, and none of them have broken. I don't think I'm the problem here. Plus, the Cascade cable is horrible, and ALO began as a cable company if I'm not mistaken. CA said mail them in. Pretty inconvenient...

Campfire Audio Vega (and Dorado and Lyra II) - Head-Fi TV

I've got multiple headphones that cost under $500 which sound good and have lasted eight or more years. A $1300 pair falling apart in a few years is downright unacceptable. No excuses. I may try to get them repaired. Just a huge hassle and costs money I'd rather use on other stuff.

Campfire Audio Vega (and Dorado and Lyra II) - Head-Fi TV

Original Vega owner. Nozzle is detaching due to the crap glue they used to affix it to the metal housing. Shipping from Germany plus repair costs isn't too appealing. Cable on my Cascade is terrible too, super glue repair jobs because the plastic was breaking. Cloth is all kinked up. I'm put off...

    JVC HA-SZ2000/1000 Impressions Thread

Cool, sounds good. I've got a pair of fostex on the way... if the bass on them is better than my mdr-7520,I'll probably be satisfied with them and not buy the jvc. I have some hm5 pads from an older purchase if I need them. Thanks again. Edit: fostex purpleheart came in and they're rocking my...

    JVC HA-SZ2000/1000 Impressions Thread

Thanks for the observations. I plan on using bass boost and/or eq to get the most out of these. So how did the sz2k do with the quick bass on the Crop Circles track (last one)? Was it a jumbled mess, or are they fast enough?

    JVC HA-SZ2000/1000 Impressions Thread

Does someone mind listening to these tracks with the SZ2000 and letting me know how they sound? It would be much appreciated. I'm trying to ignore these headphones, but I can't get them off my mind.   http://soulr.com/track/close-encounters  ...

The Hardest hitting Headphones are.. ( "The EXTREME BASS Club")

Good points to make, thanks. Some of the goa trance I like has complicated bass lines. Thank you.

The Hardest hitting Headphones are.. ( "The EXTREME BASS Club")

One guy says they aren't good for edm, another says they're the best... typical head fi. Who do I trust? (the edm I listen to: drum and bass with crushing lows, goa trance with tons of detail, techno that benefits from some instrument separation)

    Lets Talk Metal

Kroda is killer, thanks. It's a lot harder for me to get into symphonic-folk-whatever than it is most varieties of death metal, but when it's done well, it's pretty awesome.

    Lets Talk Metal

Yeah dude, that's the other album I'm really salivating over this year. It's really so good. But what's the deal with basically two outros? Maybe to fit the length of the album title?    I can't wait for the new Ulcerate. The song they released is the most morose they've sounded. I'm guessing...

    Lets Talk Metal

The symphonic-folk-pagan-black-metal epics are strong this year!  The one that has been demanding nearly all of my listening time is most definitely the new Moonsorrow. Wow, what an album. The new Saor should be equally great (or maybe almost equally heh).       Oh yeah, Borknagar too! My...

    Lets Talk Metal

Haha that cracks me up! These haven't been posted here yet I don't think... there hasn't been too terribly much death metal I've been really excited for this year, but these are two that I'll buy immediately once released. https://redefiningdarknessrecords.bandcamp.com/album/interitus...

    Lets Talk Metal

I wasn't being sarcastic or cynical earlier, I just honestly never considered metalcore to be actual metal. Does taking that designation away from it make it anything less than it is? Does music have to fall into the "metal family" in order to be credible? Of course not, but since I didn't (and...
