What kind of static issues? I'm liking how it sounds more and more...not sure if that's burn in or my ears getting used to them. This dac seems to love acoustic/classical music.

Is your dacmagic new as well? I have the same cable as you and I don't find the sound different at all but then again I came from straight out of the MBP to A5s.

Yes sir, I am using optical out but I must admit my music varies from 192 to 256 to Apple lossless. I haven't had the chance to re-rip my cds.

I don't really believe in burning in either but i left it running all night and it does sound a bit better today and I'm enjoying it more This is my first dac ever and I did no dac and dacmagic comparison yesterday and I had a hard time discerning the difference. I'll give it a week or so to...

I just got the Lifatec mini to toslink cable but I'm still waiting for my DAC. The build quality seems pretty good.

My Dacmagic is on the way from Audioadvisor I also ordered lifatec mini to toslink from my MBP to dacmagic and blue jeans cable rca to min to my A5 I'm so excited! This will be my first decent setup.

Don't worry about the bass comment as this differs from ear to ear. You may find the bass lacking for your taste.

I never knew about it till I read about it here cause I usually turn it when not in use. If AE confirms that this is normal then it doesn't bother me. To the OP buy what u think it's going to work for u cause we have suggested both options.

Mine is roughly 6" from the wall but I gain a few inches because I angle it toward me. My desk is 63" long 25" deep and it's a little cramped with 23" acd mbp and tablet but it's all good

First few hours with A5s I thought the bass was lacking for my taste but after a day or two + mopads...it now has more than enough bass for me. I plan to add a dacmagic soon.

Go ahead and give the A5s a shot though audioengineusa.com for 30 days...return it if it doesn't fit your needs. I did lose some desk space though but it's well worth it.

I plan on getting this DAC soon MBP > Optical Out > Dacmagic > Audioengine A5. Does anybody have that setup?

Wow, placement made a huge difference! I'm loving it now and they sound better as you crank them up

I just got my A5s today and I have to say I'm a little disappointed so far. Maybe my expectations were for this big sound (soundstage) to come out of these little speakers. Is there a certain burn in stage before these fully sing? Will a DAC improve it dramatically? I'm currently running them...

I just recently got my SR80s and I'm loving every minute of it...I do prefer it over my E3. It must be my ears but I don't find the SR80s harsh at all. I actually prefer a little bit more detail up high and a little less bass but I'm not complaining for the price I paid.

Maybe I'll buy one when it's finally "tested."
