Would be pretty tough to compete with the Amazon empire....

I've got the Grado RS2i (which is the predecessor to the Grado 500 I think); for vocals, strings, midband music, etc.. the only thing that sounds better is listening to same through my Maggie 1.7s.

I'm looking to get new headphones and want to audition several before I purchase (purchased a set of Grados last year without auditioning them and now wish I had). Can folks recommend a retail shop, either in NYC or WashDC metro areas that carry a good selection of hi-end cans? I really don't...

I think I've figured out what I'm going to do....keep my Grados and instead buy a pair of pince-nez

I assume you mean custom in ear monitors? I've had them for motorcycle riding for 10 years. I've never had hi-end monitors but have to admit it might be time (I generally listen to books on tape/pod cast while riding). Do folks generally feel that IEM give good fidelity?

I did but have not found any examples of the Grado RS2i, only the older model RS2--my guess is these are too new and that people like them and hold on to them.
