Chinese earthquake wasn't too kind to Darkvoice factory
The Darkvoice factory is located in Chengdu, very close to the epicenter of the recent Chinese earthquake. The guys there have posted some of the damage they incurred, pretty gruesome. ½ñÌì²ÅÈ¥ÇåÀí¹«Ë¾ÏÖ³¡ - ³É¶¼ö¦Òô·» - Õý¹æ³§¼Ò½»Ò×Çø - µ¨ÒÕÐùÒôÏì²ÄÁÏÍø...- Mazuki

Best way to cut out that IEC jack
So I've always drilled a couple of holes and then used a file to make the square. But this is really time consuming, not to mention the extreme cacophony associated with the filing. Anyone know of a better method of cutting out the square without going to a machine shop or resort to buying...- Mazuki

Don't forget to change your earpads!
I've had my DT880s for more than two years now and I just changed the velour pads. The old ones were deflated and oily. The new ones are stiff and clean. Not only are they more comfortable, they sound better too!! I can now hear more soundstage, better dynamics and stronger bass. This is...- Mazuki

Small suggestion for modifying the New and Improved Tube FAQ for newbies
I was just thinking it would probably be appropriate to edit the small paragraph in the second post of this FAQ, under the OTL topology. The description of the OTL topology in the FAQ applies mainly to speakers. Since at least a plurality of tube headphone amps on sale are OTL, I don't think...- Mazuki

black gates N series, super E
The super E configuration for the Blackgates N series is well documented. Has anyone heard about it also being applied to the Nichicon Muse ES series? They're both nonpolar caps, so I assume it can be done?- Mazuki

DAC-AH with Rudolf Broertjes' SS I/V Gain Stage
Yeo from DIY Paradise recently added Rudolf Broertjes' SS I/V gain stage to his Monica2. I looked over the original DIY Audio thread and saw it works for the TDA1543 chip as well. Having also recently purchased a DAC-AH, I decided to give this I/V converter a shot. Here's the original...- Mazuki

Darkvoice 337 - A Review
Introduction: The Darkvoice 336 that some people here at Head-fi began taking orders on early last year generated tremendous interest in this Chinese headphone amp manufacturer. Its polished looks, meticulous construction and outstanding sound grabbed my attention as well. For a couple of...- Mazuki

STEPS outputting too much voltage
So I completed my first STEPS today. I plugges it in and everything looks good, until I try to adjust output voltage (TP4 and TP5). Seems I can only adjust between 35V-29V. The trim pot does not go any further. Is there something else wrong or did I just buy the wrong trim pot? I'm using...- Mazuki

Alternative to Radioshack
Does anyone here know of any stores in the Santa Monica/San Fernando Valley area of LA that sell electric parts (besides Radioshack)? I am 2 resistors short of finishing a M^3 (Mouser sent wrong parts!) and I just don't want to have to wait for shipping and etc. Thanks- Mazuki

M^3 Q5+ and Q5-
I'm using n_maher's BOM to order parts for my M^3. There is a problem. The "Fairchild NPN BJT 2N3904" part number at Mouser was "625-2N3904". The website says it has been replaced by 512-2N3904BU. The "Fairchild PNP BJT 2N3906" part number at Mouser was "625-2N3906" but that has been...- Mazuki

TREAD cap keeps exploding
So I put together a TREAD using Tangent's kit. Using a AC transformer, I plugged the TREAD into the mains. Caps 7 and 8 (10 µF and 22 µF) both exploded. It was like a mushroom cloud Turns out I switched their positions. So I bought the two parts again and tried again with the caps in the...- Mazuki

The last headamp I will ever buy!
I swear! The FEEL HP 200SE I ordered nearly 2 months ago just came in. This thing is massive. I don't think the pictures really show it. It is as big as a 19 inch monitor. It weighs as much as an unabridged dictionary. Here are some photos I snapped of it...- Mazuki
