Newbie Question: High-end IEM sound vs. full size can sound...
I was thinking of purchasing the Shure SE530s (nicely discounted now, 3 drivers). But then I wondered if the SR60s by Grado (or a different can) would sound better at a fraction of the price. I'm thinking in terms of an IPOD with Apple Lossless music and possibly a line-out with portable...- silence57

Basic question, but...SE530 vs. SR 60???
I was set to purchase the SE530 for my IPOD (Apple Lossless, headphone amp. line-out) when some research indicated that good full size cans just might sound better with the IPOD. Maybe even the much less expensive SR60s. If so, aside from portability (and maybe sound isolation) why would I...- silence57

Surpised --- prefer Chestnut Hill George to HK Play+Go...
At first, I thought the HK sounded better --- more power, better soundstage, and deeper bass. But sometimes the HK seems to struggle with treble. The George seems to resolve treble better on some songs. Since the HK has no radio, I'm referring to Classic IPOD use (320kbps or Apple...- silence57

Apple Lossless vs. WAV? Does one sound better?
My guess is theoretically WAV might sound better but that they're about equal. Is this so? Tx.- silence57

Scratch the Bose, how is the Klipsch iFi???
I've heard it but interested in the opinions of those here. At $249 (limited re-release) it seems a decent bargain. Tx!- silence57

Ready to buy Bose Sound Dock, unless you say otherwise...
It sounded pretty good in the Apple store and the sales people highly recommended it. I was a bit concerned about the lack of real subwoofer-type-bass, but it is a one piece, small unit as they pointed out. Volume was ok. The other systems they sold didn't sound that great. I didn't try the...- silence57

Over time degradation of sound...IPOD w/"quality" speaker dock...
Can't think of a better place to ask... I have an IPOD at home (Classic 80 gigs) w/HK Play+Go (love these "cheap sounding" HK names!). At first, the IPOD (Apple lossless) sounded good in the HK. but, more and more, the treble sounds muddled. Yes, both items are less than audiophile quality...- silence57

Best IPOD speaker system (one-piece)...???
Using Apple Lossless (primarily for rock) what is considered the best or, at least sufficient, one piece speaker. At first, I liked the Harman Kardon Play+Go (by IPOD accessory standards) due to good soundstage, bass, and volume. But the more I listen the less enamoured I am with the treble...- silence57

Which is better for IPOD: best canal or = priced full size headphone
I'm thinking 3 driver Shure (or perhaps better --- if there is better) vs. a good all-around phone that can be driven by IPOD w/out amp. Tx!- silence57

Only head-fiers would know --- Geneva Labs Model L or M good sound for the $$$???
I strongly suspect this (the Model L or M) is the best IPOD speaker out there for "reasonable" money out there now. (One speaker box, not a 2.1 such as the iFi, etc...). But reviews are hard to find and those who own one (or have heard one) are even harder to come by. It's manufacturer sales...- silence57

Help! HK Play + Go or Chestnut Hill George SPEAKER for Classic IPOD! Or....???
I've heard these speakers (and a few others) in the Apple store on a limited basis. I have a good home headphone set-up (say, 320kbps import on a Classic 80gb, AKG 701s, SR-71, and line-out; songs sound really good to me with this set-up or something similar). But sometimes I want to play the...- silence57

PX 100s vs Yuin Earbuds...
For portability and decent sound (320kbps on IPOD Classic 80; rock, pop, and a bit of classical), I would like one of these and would like to give one as a gift. I know the PX 100s sound good for the price and size. The Yuins are supposedly the best earbud out there --- the cheaper Yuin since I...- silence57

Just tried new canals with and without SR71s --- very different sound surprised me...
Q-Jays (39 ohms) were first tried with an IPOD Classic (no SR-71) for rock downloaded at 320bits from Itunes. Excellent first impression at 80% IPOD volume --- no expert am I, but good soundstage, good bass, and punchy. I put the SR-71 in (w/out a line-out) and the volume was fairly similar at...- silence57

Q-Jays vs. Shure SE210/310 for IPOD/rock???
Any thoughts regarding the two for a 80gb Classic? I use 320bits and sometimes use a headphone amp (SR-71) and/or line-out. At first blush, two drivers in the small Jays seems hard to beat for about $179, but it's a bit more of an unkown to me. I briefly tried the Jays (w/out amp) and they...- silence57

Karmon Kardon Go + Play...experience with IPOD???
I have a new Classic 80gb IPOD. I'd like to obtain a good, enjoyable, semi-portable speaker for it (I have the small, two driver Jays canals and they sound very good but I also want to move around and keep my hearing a bit longer ). At Apple, the HK Go + Play had good looks (to me), bass...- silence57

Music or phones --- what makes the most impact???
I know there are great classical recordings, guys like Beethoven, and well played, recorded virtuoso pieces that can easily differentiate headphone from headphone. But I'm a music guy. I like rock and pop (and Horowitz). For the non-professional, I'm a music guy first, source guy second and...- silence57

Confused by Grado pricing...
started with good Senns and canals and bought the SR-60s to hear the Grado sound, especially as I like rock. They sounded better (a fun phone for sure)than expected and seem well priced --- IMHO, they're a definite step up from, say, almost similarly priced PX 100's. But looking at HeadRoom...- silence57

How many headphones is too much???
I like to compare and contrast items like headphones, cameras, watches (expensive!) and so on. And when the new, "improved" version comes out, I want that, too. I'm just a beginner in terms of headphones, so I only have about ten (including canal phones). This is obviously not enuf but it's...- silence57

Prefer headphones or speakers and why???
I've found myself listening to headphones a lot in the past few years (except when driving!). It seems more personal and I seem to be really focused on the music. Only very lately have I returned to my reasonably good sound system, sitting down and listening. I think it depends on my mood...- silence57

Blasphemy: Just listen to the music...
I've never had musical ability (to play an instrument) but I can differentiate good music vs.bad as well as good components vs bad. But sometimes I find myself listening to the headphone rather than the music. In a way it's fun, comparing headphones. But what I really like is good music. I...- silence57

Anyone afraid of going deaf or having tinnitus???
I had tinnitus for a while and it's bad. You go to sleep in a quiet room and hear a hum. Can't sleep and probably ruined your ears a bit. I'm not a doctor, but I've heard that sound above 85db causes cumulative damage. And 85db is not that high. Anyone worried about their hearing or tinnitus...- silence57

How good are the Headroom micro AMP and DAC...
I have a few good amps --- the Emmerline sr-71s and Channel Islands headphone amp with power supply. High quality as far as I'm concerned. But I've been hearing some good things about the headroom combo --- especially the DAC. I have the Total Bithead but it can't compare to the Emmerline IMHO...- silence57

Finally, got my 701s!!! Why so hard to drive???
They have a different sound. I can tell that right away. Right now they seem to have a soft sound with great ability to hear new insturments and detail --- maybe soft because breaking in is the key with these phones. My initial impression on these unbroken in phones is tha the bass is a bit weak...- silence57
