I'm interested in picking up a pair of these, if anyone is selling. Send me a message, thanks!

Looking forward to it. Listening to Dimension Zero now...and really liking it! I have heard and like At The Gates (I do have one album), Children of Bodom, obviously In Flames, and I've heard some Soilwork before that I remember enjoying. Dimension Zero is a new one on me, I like it!   When I...

    HD650 vs HE-300/400

Great advice here!   Using a DAC is hardly about just eliminating noise; though it certainly should do that. Getting even an entry level DAC, compared to your onboard sound, will noticeably improve overall clarity and soundstage. To use the common analogy, it'll be like removing a veil from...

Thank you! Listening on Spotify, and I like what I'm hearing. Gotta leave for work. I look forward to trying those bands you recommended, BLACKENEDPLAGUE.

    HD650 vs HE-300/400

Honestly, the only one who can answer that is you. It's a very subjective question, and until you hear both headphones, you can't know for sure. I know that's not the answer you wanted to hear, but it's an honest answer.   There are other options - you can pick up a slightly used HD650 for...

Never heard of Lengsel, but great suggestion! This is very much up my alley. It's a shame the production quality is so bad :(   But wow...only halfway through "Revival" and this is incredible. Thanks for this find! Very interested in similar bands!   Edit: Oh, lol I see. The lineup ;)

Yay, I love In Flames! My top three favorite metal bands are Extol, In Flames, and Killswitch Engage, in that order. And I agree, In Flames older melodic death material is where it's at.

I do somewhat like The Chariot, though I tend toward more melodic stuff. A friend introduced me to Converge, and again, I can appreciate it but it's not something I reach for very often. Shai Hulud I'll have to try; haven't heard of them. The Agony Scene I actually do really like, I have that...

My metal knowledge is too narrow and limited. I always feel like a noob on this thread. Makes it hard to try to engage in meaningful discussion when seemingly everything I enjoy is no good and everything that is good I do not enjoy (Zao, for instance). I have to be content with the fact that I...

Definitely looking forward to trying these. I am patiently awaiting TheCableCo to get their Library pair, as I am first in queue to borrow it. When I do, I will post my impressions as well, and I'll offer some comparisons to my beloved HE-5LE.   I'll also mention in passing that I have had a...

Give the album a shot. They play metalcore, which I know is a generally stale genre right now...I bore far too easily with most of what's being produced now, but this new album by ABR is creative and breathes fresh life into the genre, if I may be so bold to say.   Here's a taste...

Hey all...so this might be my first post in this thread. I'm not sure what kinds of metal are popular with you guys, but thought I'd stop in and see if anyone has heard the new August Burns Red album yet? It is, imo, absolutely incredible. It's on a whole other level from their past work. The...

    HD650 vs HE-300/400

Haven't heard the HE-300...so I can't comment on that. But the HD650 is a gorgeous sounding headphone. I think it'd be a great work headphone too, if the sound leakage really won't be an issue for you. I say that because it is a very smooth, non-fatiguing listen which means you can listen for...

    Hifiman he-400i Impressions and Discussion

Agreed. I have the HE-5LE running off the Emotiva mini-X, and I have had the chance to compare it to the HE-4 on the same setup. The HE-4's sound (particularly the bass) really snaps into focus with the Emotiva. So there are satisfying, affordable options for the HE-4. That said, I ultimately...

Interesting, I always felt the HE-5LE was basically a more refined HE-4 with better vocals. I suppose it doesn't meet the "more efficient" side of things and doesn't quite reach the refinement of the HE-500, but after owning the HE-5LE for a while, I sold all my Grados as I felt there wasn't a...

I've enjoyed all your impressions (and photos) of the HE-560 so far! It sounds like a headphone I would very much like, based on what you've all said. It sounds like it exhibits many of the qualities I loved in my old HE-5LE, yet with improved comfort. I was very tempted to pre-order one, but I...

Yeah...does anyone want to sell me their HE-5LE? I had to choose between selling my computer and my HE-5LE to pay off some taxes...I chose poorly.

REVIEW - HiFiMan HE-560 Planar Magnetic Headphones - Stock Headphone Impressions here, No Mods other than cables (Review in Progress)

I had the old style velour pads. The ones with the really junky plastic tabs that everyone hates - sonically, I thought they were much better than the new velour pads.

REVIEW - HiFiMan HE-560 Planar Magnetic Headphones - Stock Headphone Impressions here, No Mods other than cables (Review in Progress)

So...I'm very much tempted to hit pre-order.   I sold my HE-5LE recently, which I simply adored, in order to pay off some taxes. I instantly regretted it and wished I had sold my desktop PC setup instead to pay off my taxes (I don't play video games anymore, but I do listen to music daily)...
