Teac Reference Line UD-501 USB DAC "DSD"

You only void the warranty if you tell them you opened it up. They have no way of knowing if you took it apart or not. There are no seals.   I have a ton of internal photo's from when I took mine apart, I just looked at them all to see fuse sizes but I do not see any fuses in there at all in...

Teac Reference Line UD-501 USB DAC "DSD"

Quote:   I do really like them. Putting them on is like sitting down in a la-z-boy they are definitely more comfortable than any other phones I have by a large margin! I have since also received the Lyr and they certainly have more headroom plugged into that amp instead of the teac's...

Teac Reference Line UD-501 USB DAC "DSD"

I received my UD-501  a few days ago, So far I am very pleased with it. I think the build quality is outstanding and sound quality is also exceptional. It did take a little bit of tinkering with foobar and using different settings to get it to play all of the different high res files but I think...

Teac Reference Line UD-501 USB DAC "DSD"

Well, I decided that I would like to get a pair of the HD650's so I picked up a used Schiit Lyr. Still have not purchased any headphones but when I do I will do a comparison of the teac headphone output compared to that with the headphones being driven by the Lyr. Of course, I expect that in the...

I purchased this Teac DAC and it will arrive next week. ATTN: Rega Planet 2000 Owners

Thanks for the replies, I had it apart again lastnight to try and diagnose the problem, So i cleaned all the gears and surfaces where the sled rides and lightly lubricated them with a high viscosity gun oil which probably isint the best but its all i've got. I put my new laser assembly in again...

    ATTN: Rega Planet 2000 Owners

Ive got one of these I picked up off audiogon about a year ago, And Ever since I have noticed the darn thing doesnt like certain cd's, It will skip constantly on certain cd's at certain time's and will play others flawlessly. And im talking about store bought cd's that are flawless. I have lubed...

Time for a change of pace. Here's the Power strip I built to accomodate plugging my mono blocks directly into my single 20A dedicated outlet. Everything else is plugged into a Monster HTS5300. Both the wall plug and the power strip plug are hospital grade, The power strip plug is housed in a...

A few of my last build. Was a birthday gift for a friend, I wanted to keep her though.. Its hard to see em go! Casework is milled from a solid block of african mohogany. ( I broke two before getting one good one) My metalworking has gone down the toilet since I no longer have acess to proper...

    Jack Off Switch?

Talk about ressurecting an old thread, but i think the pop comes from the DPDT switch used on the main power, ive made a couple versions myself and from what i can tell, if the positive and negative voltages are not switched at EXACTLY the same time it results in a pop. I would think this could...

Hi-quality PCBs with laser printer at home

I hadnt ever heard of the paper way of doing it.. The way I learned, and use is with a transparancy.. and photosensitive boards, just put em in the sun for a bit, dunk it in the developer (this is where alot of people ive seen screw up.. They leave it in too long.. bye bye protective coating! )...

Heres my latest addition. If you cant recognize it off the bat, the circuit is based on the 4556 OP amp and runs off two 9v batteries. The resistors are all Vishay/dale metal films, pot is a (somewhat)cheapo Alpha 100k. Which seems pretty good for me. No need for a 40 dollar pot in this amp...

    Claritycaps?

Ive used Clarity caps in my bottlehead foreplay tube preamp and also in my first and second version 4556 headphone amp's (solens now). Theyre relatively inexpensive but come with a rather large stranded cable instead of regular solid lead types which can be a pain if your soldering into a PCB...
