Very basic question...What is a DAC amp?

Ok, thanks for explaining everyone. Sounds to me like a DAC comes in behind headphones and a headphone amp in importance. Rather... 1. Great set of headphones 2. A headphone amp if you want one 3. A DAC if you're really serious

Very basic question...What is a DAC amp?

So the ZERO DAC is a DAC and a Headphone amp, but can't be both at the same time, either one or the other, right? Is that how they all are? I still don't see what the benefit is.

Very basic question...What is a DAC amp?

Excuse my noobiness. But there's no better place to ask than here, right? (Actually, was wondering if there's any threads around here that explain all the basic audiophile stuff since a lot of it is confusing.) Was talking about upgrading my computer's audio with someone and they mentioned...

    Amp recommendations for HD-555s/Computer

Was wondering if anyone likes the Headroom Little at all? I can't find much info about it, which isn't usually a good thing - The power supply that comes with it doesn't look so great. I know it's discontinued from headroom, but i might be able to get one for half price.

    Amp recommendations for HD-555s/Computer

I'm not sure about those Little Dot amps, hard to find out any info on them, or if people like them much or not. I'm SO ready to get an amp though, i want one now, i'll buy just about anything if the price is right - Still trying to keep it under $200. *Continues to refresh the buy/sell...

    Amp recommendations for HD-555s/Computer

Thanks for the link, that does look like a pretty nice amp, wish i knew how to build something like that, but building isn't for me. That also looks too expensive for me though. In most cases i'll probably have to buy a good PSU and Cables on top of the price of the amp, so then i'd be way...

    Amp recommendations for HD-555s/Computer

Simple enough, thanks for the help. The M3 seems like it'd be too much for my HD-555s, Audigy 2 ZS, should probably get something more simple...though i'll check out the M3 if anyone links me to it

I know some about opamps...well little actually, just not sure what "rolling" means. I know what rolling means...but not when it comes to opamps, rather I'm dying to get a headphone amp as soon as possible and there's just nothing around now that i'm interested in...anywhere - Guess i'll...

Oh, that's kind of interesting. Are the USB sound cards good? Would i still be able to use my Audigy 2 ZS? I think i'll just keep checking the buy/sell forum, something like what i'm looking for has to pop up sooner or later.

    Amp recommendations for HD-555s/Computer

Anyone getting tired of these types of threads yet? Well too bad! Just looking for some recommendations for an amp. I have Sennheiser HD-555s, and would only used this amp on my computer most likely, so it doesn't matter if it's portable or not, infact i'd prefer it not be portable, but...

    Amp reversing gaming sound

Heyas. I got a headphone amp and now when i play games the sounds are all backwards, like i'll here some steps coming from the left then a guy pops out to my right. The amp seems normal when listening to music, but it's mixed up in games for some reason. Anyone know why that would happen?

Connecting amp to audigy 2 zs

Hrm, well it is really confusing, but i guess that's just the way it is. Seems like a mini to mini would do the trick, i'm still not quite sure why i can't do that. I'll probably just wait till i get the amp to figure it out. So if i'm not going to buy a mini to mini cable what am i going to...

Connecting amp to audigy 2 zs

mini to mini with a mini and a 1/4 adapter? This is getting confusing. To connect my headphones to my audigy 2 zs i have to use a 1/8 headphone jack adapter, so the ZS uses 1/8 ports...or whatever. So would just a mini to mini cable to the trick?
