Upgrade my Channel Islands amp (VHP-2) for Audeze LDC-3s?

Thanks for reminding me about the power supply (VAC-1).  I have one of those and one wall-wart for the two CIA components.  I don't remember if the VAC-1 is attached to the amp or the DAC, I will check that and perhaps swap them to see if I hear a difference.  Probably should buy another VAC-1...

Upgrade my Channel Islands amp (VHP-2) for Audeze LDC-3s?

Many thanks for the input!  Don't get me wrong, the LCD-3s sound very good, I particularly like the overall warmth and deep bass performance.  I guess I am also  looking for more of an  "outside your head" experience as well.  Perhaps a bit more impact too, but I don't expect them to slam like...

Upgrade my Channel Islands amp (VHP-2) for Audeze LDC-3s?

My headphone rig is Mac Pro -> Vandenhul OptoCoupler (TOSLink) -> Channel Islands VDA-2 (DAC) -> Channel Islands VHP-2 -> pre-Fazor Audeze LCD-3 (occasionally Alessandro MS2i).  The VHP-2 drives my LCD-3s without a problem and sounds pretty good, but I feel like the soundstage could be...

Many thanks for the suggestion.  I will pursue this in Summit-Fi.

Should I upgrade my Channel Islands amp (VHP-2) for Audeze LDC-3s?

Yes, I know nobody on Head-Fi is ever going to say "no, don't upgrade"   , but here's the situation...   My headphone rig is Mac Pro -> Vandenhul OptoCoupler (TOSLink) -> Channel Islands VDA-2 (DAC) -> Channel Islands VHP-2 -> pre-Fazor Audeze LCD-3 (occasionally Alessandro MS2i).  The VHP-2...

    Returned DT880, now what?

Greetings, I have Senn 580's and Grado SR-60's. After getting my SR-71 I wanted to get something new, with more "life" than the 580's but more accurate and with better imaging than the SR-60's. I bought the Beyer DT880, broke them in for 100 hours and listened. Soundstage and imaging were...

    Use headphone extension as interconnect?

I want to be able to conneect my SR-71 to my home system and sit on the couch (with the SR71) about 10 ft away. My thought is to get a 3ft RCA to mini adapter which will stay connected to the home system all the time and use a long mini extension interconnect to connect between the adapter and...

Okay, I can't imagine watching any movie with only 2 channels of audio. Plus, a 5.1 setup allows you to check out DVD-A, which is pretty cool if the disc is well produced. Anyway, here are some suggestions, staying at the $1500 price point for TWO speakers... Totem Forest - a bit tough to...

Okay, here's a starting point... Totem Dream Catcher 5.1 speaker system. Very well reviewed for both music and home theater. I have heard it and it is a very nice setup for about $1600. A Denon DVD player in the $400-500 range. Denons usually have good audio AND video performance. Their...

Got SR-71, now I am bored with my HD580's

My experience (somewhat limited), is that the Senns present the music like I am back in the cheap seats, while the Grados sound like I am onstage with the band. I want to be in the 5th row! I heard/read that the Senn 595 is more "forward" than the 580, 600, is that true? Any comments on...

    Directional cable question

Greetings, I bought a mini to RCA cable (3m AQ Copperhead, got it pretty cheap) to connect my SR-71 to my "big rig". The cable has arrows that indicate the "proper" signal direction, which is opposite from how I would like to use the cable (the cable would be oriented "properly" if I used it...

Got SR-71, now I am bored with my HD580's

Greetings, I bought an SR-71 about 4 months ago. One thing that I have noticed is that I rarely use my Senn HD-580s anymore because I now find the presentation boring. I used to love them. . Anway, I find myself using my Grado SR-60s, which had been collecting dust for the past few years...
