I didn't touch my D1 for 1 year and upon recently powering it back up, the USB does not work. It just says "USB device has malfunctioned" in Windows. Analog inputs work as expected, it's analog. I have another D1 and it worked when I first bought it, but then the USB input stopped outputting...

$3000????   Go for Event or Genlec studio monitors.   Now if you mean $300 LOL, then go for JBL's, Yamaha.   Do a google search for best budget studio monitor... you'll get lists of which to buy.

I disassembled the Yamaha HS7. I figured I would post it up on the interwebs for reference if anyone needs.            

Presonus, Yamaha, JBL... they're all also good for the price. 

The D2 is newer and much better. Many reviews say they're excellent and for the price too.

What's your budget? There are a lot of affordable dacs to recommend.

I agree that there is too much information to go through. However, a simple Google search for "best 5670/2c51/6n3p tube" or something along those lines will give results. That's how I found information fast and efficiently because there are other people out there who has asked the same...

5" studio monitors are among the most popular size for home computer setups. Even for passives. Going larger, the user usually has deep pockets or specifically know what they want.

I prefer not to as to be honest kind of lazy to send him a message. I just stuck my OPA627 in the output and input opamp slots and called it a day. :P

So I just upgraded to the D1 PLUS. I opened it up and found 3 OPAMPS. 2x LF353N, and 1x OPA2604. The LF353N is for the headphone out and the both tube/regular output. The OPA2604, seems to be for the input/dac, however if I take the opamp out, the audio still runs, but at a slightly reduced...

Upgraded to the D1 plus after so long.

But then I'll never know how OPA627 truely sound. LOL

When I said upgrade, I was thinking of just swapping the boards... However, that makes it no more different than paying an extra fee for exchanging the old D1 for a D1 Plus unit.   Ask that too in your email, if we can exchange our D1 units for a D1 Plus.

I recently picked up an Infinity PS-8 sub.  It has a level, crossover (50-150hz), phase switch, RCA + LFE, and speaker high level input.   Right off the bat I noticed an improvement in the quality of bass, and bass response when I was just testing it out at low volumes in the living room...

Here's a recent finding about this amp which is VERY odd.   I accidently connected the audio out from my D1 to the tube pre-out of the A1, and found it odd that the source switch wasn't working, so I decided to investigate. As a result the volume seems to be 10x louder than connecting it...
