Monoprice Monolith Liquid Platinum - By Alex Cavalli
I believe this would be greatly interesting to read. The LC is legendary in many respects, and to "see" how it was improved upon and made more affordable for people with shallower pockets would be a boon.- ZetsuBozu0012

Yup. Measurements validate subjective impressions of the differences between woods (or vise versa if you prefer). Haven't yet tried other versions of the Fostex biodynas besides the TH610 and TH900 so I'm recusing myself from direct comparisons between the X00 line.- ZetsuBozu0012

The cherry wood ones on the TH900 are pretty light. Did a shootout between the TH900 and the HP-3 and found the Fostexes weighed almost nothing compared to the Klipsch, the Klipsches themselves weighing roughly the same as the X00 Ebony (better distribution on my head though). Just a shame that...- ZetsuBozu0012

Schiit Yggdrasil V2 upgrade Technical Measurements
It's not so much that I'm incapable of using Google to find the link, but honestly, that site gets too much traffic as is for all the hate it spews. I do appreciate the sarcasm, though (and I mean that sincerely, not in a sarcastic way), made for a good chuckle.- ZetsuBozu0012

Refer to measurements, the spike is there at 11k. Granted, it's high enough to be inaudible for some, and I think my hearing's beginning to adapt to the extra 11kHz energy which is a scary thought, but try listening to modern tracks, say, Taylor Swift's ... Schiit Yggdrasil V2 upgrade Technical Measurements
There are audiophiles, who by my definition are individuals who invest a fair bit of their (hopefully disposable) income on gear to better enjoy music they love, and then there are people who can't enjoy their gear even under pain of death for want of it not being able to reproduce the sounds of...- ZetsuBozu0012

If you can look past the treble spike then these are quite remarkably balanced. Measurements make them out to be bassy as all hell, but I don't find them particularly bottom-heavy except on some tracks, and even then that's more a function of the mixing and mastering process than the headphones'...- ZetsuBozu0012

The Ebony is reputedly similar to the previous versions of the TH-X00, only somewhat more refined with less pronounced dips and peaks across the frequency range. I believe you can apply learnings from those previous threads and mentally compensate for the change in cups; a treble boost for the...- ZetsuBozu0012

Tyll reviewed the Mahogany, which is the original X00. He also compared them against the Denons, E-MU Teak, Fostex TH-610, and the TH900. It provided a good baseline since you specified needing a comparison against the D5000; no, he has not measured the PH or the EB, to my knowledge. The...- ZetsuBozu0012

https://www.innerfidelity.com/content/survey-foster-443742-variants-subjective-listening-tests-denon-ah-d5000-massdrop-fostex-th As for EB v. the Mahogany X00, you can find subjective impressions comparing them with some due diligence and a bit of Googling.- ZetsuBozu0012

If extensive store demo impressions of the TH900 V2 will satisfy, I'll gladly oblige. I vastly prefer the X00EB because it's less painful to my ears. The TH900 I demoed was superior in look (urushi is a lovely finish), imaging and soundstage, overall clarity, and bass control, but the treble...- ZetsuBozu0012

Just the EB, which I prefer to the TH900 and the TH610 (both of which I demoed at a local audio dealer). There's a MH for sale locally, which I might try demoing too. I was a bit sad about the TH900 because everything was pretty good except for the stabby treble. I couldn't wear them for very...- ZetsuBozu0012

... I'll just be candid. Too sleepy to be diplomatic. In my experience, Zeos doesn't really know what he's talking about and just likes tossing manufacturer spiels and drawing cables out of his butt. Just gonna say that the Z Sound Demos are hardly accurate representations of what you'll actually be hearing once you get them, and are kinda pointless to boot (unless you have one of the cans he's demoed, in which case you could establish a shaky baseline... of sorts). Also, having a massive...- ZetsuBozu0012

Biggest Disappointment Headphone
Found a relevant post. Not the one I was looking for originally, but here you go: I think the crux of the matter here is that many people tend to listen at dangerous volumes when left unchecked. Too lazy to look for the source, but memory says that there's a thread somewhere on here where someone mentions Focal deliberately designed the drivers on their headphones to start "clicking" or "popping" once people approach dangerous listening levels. HD 800 vs T1 - A comparison revisited
How in the name of the holy fajita did this thread get derailed so quickly? For what it's worth, I do think the stock HD650 a remarkably good listen for the price, and seems great for long listening sessions; likewise, I agree that the stock HD800 (have yet to hear the S) is a teensy bit...- ZetsuBozu0012

Yep, saw charts for all three X00 variants, but all I got was subjective impressions on the 610s; could just be out of practice trawling forums, and missed the measurements :P Either way, I'm perfectly happy with the X00 EB, save for a *tiny* bit of sibilance on certain tracks, so chances...- ZetsuBozu0012

Reply to review by 'zetsubozu0012' on item 'iFi Audio micro iDSD'
Thanks for your insight, @silvrr. I own the original iDSD Micro and have to say I agree with most of your findings, save for the high-end being particularly pronounced (I paired mine with DT880s, for poop's sake!). I admit I was somewhat tempted to upgrade when I heard there was a new release...- ZetsuBozu0012

That works, but it'd have been nice to get measurements all from the same source, if only for consistency's sake. Still not sure about the difference between the TH-X00 and TH-X00sn1927, but I'm reasonably sure neither is the EB. Wonder if Tyll'll pick up the PH and EB for measurement some time?- ZetsuBozu0012

Sort of relevant to this: the measurements on InnerFidelity are only of the original Mahogany X00s, right? Having said that, there are two files labeled "X00" there, one under Massdrop's name and another under Fostex. The results on these charts are quite obviously different, so one wonders...- ZetsuBozu0012

Have had my X00 EBs for a while now, and I love the tonality. I'd say these were perfect for my tastes, if with just a touch MOAR bass than preferred. My only real complaint is the small 11kHz bump. It really brings out the sibilance on some tracks, enough to make me wince a bit. I'm hoping...- ZetsuBozu0012

Upgrading headphones soon (Grado RS2e), requesting impressions.
First of all, holy crud has it been a while since I've posted. I had to reset my PW since it's been ages since I last logged in. I guess that's primarily due to my having become content with my lower-mid-tier K550s and my having gone head-first into another fairly pricey hobby, which in this...- ZetsuBozu0012
