1/4 to 1/8 adapter
Well I've done it, I snapped my AKG K701 adapter inside my laptop (which I got out with superglue). But the question is, where can I get these gold plated adapters? How much will it be? Will it ever sound the same? I see these $1 adapters that look exactly the same on eBay but shipping...- KeVan

Etymotic HF 3 ACCU Filter replacement
I'm wondering where can I get replacements for those small blue ACCU filters that prevent wax from going into the earphones. The ones you need that special screwdriver to take out.- KeVan

Converting FLAC to ALAC
Quote: ALAC is .m4a right? If so, how come I just got a drastic decrease in size/bit rate when using Switch. Or is this just the way it is (ALAC being a super compressed lossless)? I tried to convert .wav to ALAC via iTunes, and it pumped out an ALAC with 35MB and 750 kbps from a...- KeVan

Are Ety 3 flange eartip safe?
Thanks for the replies. I've actually switched over to the large flange eartips. For the left ear, the large flange actually provides less of a seal than the small flange, simply because the large won't go as far in. However, I like it better like this. It gives decent sealing, without being too...- KeVan

Converting FLAC to ALAC
Interesting, no I have not. I'll try that, but I'm curious what's the reason behind it? If they are all lossless, why can't we just go FLAC -> ALAC? Also, I just noticed a drastic reduction in size/bit rate when going from FLAC -> WAV 46.1MB/3273 kbps Bit Rate -> 10.8MB/768 kbps Bit...- KeVan

Converting FLAC to ALAC
Hi, I'm trying to convert FLAC files into ALAC via iTunes/Fluke, but after converting the FLAC files into ALAC, they get a horrendous sound, as if someone turned up subwoofers to max volume producing an annoying, distorting sound. So I'm wondering, is it a problem with iTunes coding? Is...- KeVan

Ety Hf3 Hissing
Alright thanks, good to know. It's not very noticeable unless I really concentrate. So I guess the solution is just to find better files. I guess 'size doesn't matter' holds true in this case. Cause certainly I would've thought with 100mb sized FLACs, I would have superb quality...- KeVan

Are Ety 3 flange eartip safe?
I've been noticing a lot of earwax were collecting on the tip. So it basically meant these eartips were 'cleaning'/removing all this inner earwax. I've read that having some earwax is actually good for your ears - they help provide lubricant and protection from dust and foreign objects. So by...- KeVan

Ety Hf3 Hissing
I've tried to plug them directly into my Macbook Pro and my Sony MP3 player and they both produce this low static background noise. I really do hope it's not the headphone's fault. I just got these in the mail brand new from Amazon yesterday. The worse I've done to these things were throwing...- KeVan

Ety Hf3 Hissing
You sure? I remember trying out a friend's Sony noise isolating headphones (they were the cheaper ones, but there was 'hissing' or static noise even when nothing is playing. Same goes for these headphones. Only noticeable when in a quiet room though.- KeVan

Ety Hf3 Hissing
Hi, I never owned noise isolating headphones before, but is the 'hissing' suppose to be there? I assume this is their 'technology' to give it the noise isolating ability? So am I suppose to turn up the volume louder so that it drowns out this hissing? It's less noticeable in a room that's louder...- KeVan

Etymotic HF3's Microphone
Hi, I am wondering, how heavy is that microphone? I just ordered the earphones on Amazon for $120, and I am slightly worried that it is heavy enough to make my right ear uncomfortable over long periods of time, especially if there's no clip. Thanks,- KeVan

Earphones for Classical
Thanks for the recommendations. I'm currently leaning with the Etymotic HF3 as I've heard Etymotics are renowned for their isolation. Sony EX600 on the other hand is said to have good quality of sound but weaker isolation. Since I am not looking for superb quality because I already have my K701...- KeVan

Earphones for Classical
Hi guys, I am looking for new earphones that have 'somewhat' the same quality as my AKG K701 for mainly classical pieces. Will be using with an iPhone 4. Microphone is a plus, but not necessary. Sound isolation is definitely a plus. A portable amp recommendation would also be nice. Budget is...- KeVan

Should I Buy New or Used Headphones/Amp
Well thanks for all the help guys. I have to say this forum is the one who made me buy used haha, and I am thankful for it. I've saved myself $275. The seller was nice enough to drop the price to $200. The headphones sound great but the only tiny bit of problem are the headbands. Those dam...- KeVan

What is the Best Amp for Classical with AKG K701
Ok, I decided to change the thread since I already found out my problem with the static, which is the equalizer. So, I am wondering, which amp would be best for the K701 for classical and other instrumental songs? Heed Canamp? LittleDot MKIII? My budget is around... $250 or so. And i'll...- KeVan

Should I Buy New or Used Headphones/Amp
These will be my first ever audiophile-grade headphones, AKG K701/2. And I am wonder should I buy used AKG K701 for $225 or new AKG K702 for $475. Amazon does not ship to Canada, so the only local dealer sells the K702 for $475. I've never bought a used item in my life and used headphones don't...- KeVan

Hmm.. a new question would be should I buy a used AKG K701 for $225 or new AKG K702 for $475... And i'll look into those amps above, the only problem is finding those amps in Canada for new, so I am probably going to have to wait until one goes up here in the B/S/T...- KeVan

Best Amp for $100
Hi, I am a noob to this 'industry', so pardon my ignorance. I am just wondering, why is there a need for such an expensive amp for the K701. We're talking about the AKG K701 right? If so, is it that bad of a headphone or does it really need a big 'kick' to bring out its true potential? I...- KeVan
