What OS do you run: XP, Vista, Linux, Mac?
I use FreeBSD on all of my machines. I find FreeBSD to be much more consistent and robust operating system than any Linux distro, but your mileage may vary. Right now, I'm using KDE as my desktop environment and I plan on continuing to use it unless they really mess up KDE 4 (though it looks...- Malus

FLAC on Amarok
Works fine in FreeBSD with the latest version of Amarok and libxine. I would suggest upgrading your version of libxine, if possible.- Malus

Lunux Users: USB question
I use a MicroDAC under FreeBSD (I know, I know, it isn't Linux) without any issues. It was as easy as plug and play. Should be the same for Linux.- Malus

Anyone using Linux?
I've been running FreeBSD as my desktop for a while now. I'm using Amarok/xmms in conjuction with a MicroDAC to play my music. In FreeBSD, setting it up was as easy as plug and play.- Malus

Linux audio codec support?
Just a quick look through FreeBSD's ports system gives me a few different options for Monkey audio files: Port: bmp-mac-0.1.1 Path: /usr/ports/audio/bmp-mac Info: Monkey's Audio Codec non-win32 port WWW: http://sourceforge.net/projects/mac-port/ Port: gstreamer-monkeysaudio-0.8.0_11...- Malus

Integration of Secret Rabbit Code & OS X via Jack & Qjackctl ... or not?
Well, I tried jackd again tonight. Again, it was still unusable as a user with the oss driver. The portaudio driver didn't work at all. When trying to run it with realtime priority as root, the program consistently crashed. Overall, not very promising. I can get sound, but it constantly drops...- Malus

Integration of Secret Rabbit Code & OS X via Jack & Qjackctl ... or not?
Well, the portaudio driver will not work unless you have the portaudio libraries and whatnot installed. I know it's in FreeBSD's ports, but I'm not sure if it is in Fink or DarwinPorts. The coreaudio case looks like it finds a driver, but doesn't have permission to use it. Have you tried...- Malus

If you are running Windows, there is a high probability of having some sort of software problem. You could always try updating/reinstalling the drivers.- Malus

Linux as a music source; should I do it?
I run FreeBSD 6.x on my PC, using a MicroDAC as my source and amaroK as my player. Sounds pretty damn good to me. Unfortunately, amaroK hasn't released a stable version with gapless. Once I have gapless working, it will be perfect for me.- Malus
