Sennheiser HDV 820 Thoughts and Impressions

Do you have other devices so you can test if the problem is the 2i or the 820?

Sennheiser HDV 820 Thoughts and Impressions

I'm using RME ADI-2 DAC fs for the moment. I fint it pretty perfect HDV800 and with the parameter EQ I have set up for HD800S. Though, I find the DAC inside HDV820 pretty good. If I then need som tweaking I use (P)EQ and/or convolution filters in Roon.

iFi audio xDSD- The Official Thread

Found this from quick search: "aptX HD transfers audio at up to 576 kbps", so I guess it does not matter much.

Better range and lower power use are always good for portable battery-operated devices, IMHO.

It does work with the Lightning to USB Camera Adapter (plus a USB B cable).

iFi audio xDSD- The Official Thread

Read my post again before you make such a tone. I'm writing about a bug in xDSD when playing MQA, naming different setups, and I'm asking if others have the same experience.

Sennheiser Q&A: HDV 820 Digital Amplifier

I believe DSD128 is a limitation by MacOS, only Win with correct drivers do DSD256 so far.

iFi audio xDSD- The Official Thread

When playing MQA through Macbook or iPhone and with Tidal or via Roon, both doing the first unfold and xDSD the last rendering, there are a lot of pops between songs and when skipping - pretty annoying. Anyone else experiencing this? Maybe something to fix in next firmware. I have not this...

iFi audio xDSD- The Official Thread

I'm thinking of buying a Shure SE535 - it comes with a BT and a 3.5 minijack for microphone, like the S-balanced TRRS (but of course works different). Will it still work for unbalanced sound, or is this looking for trouble, and do I need a converter for trad single ended minijack? (or balanced...

[Solved...] Which portable dac/amp for DT 1770

Hi - been using the trusty Fiio Q1 some years with Iphone, but I think I need more power for the 1770 (250Ω). Must be easy to connect to Iphone and USB and have a minijack out(!). At least 8h battery. Other inputs and outputs is just a bonus. I like the ifi xDSD, but I could do with an even...

Sennheiser Q&A: HDV 820 Digital Amplifier

No, then I´m good, thanks. Read version 3.32.7.87 in a PDF, but found out that´s the Win USB software version. Guess i was confused that they pushed a MAC-updater without updated firmware. Anyway, thanks again, and happy new year, folks!

Sennheiser Q&A: HDV 820 Digital Amplifier

Hi - trying to upgrade firmware on MacOS, it says firmware version 0.02. The package is also pretty small compared to the Win version. Bug, or can I safely move ahead?

    HDV 820 Sample rate question.

A higher samplerate would not fix this. Your issue with the sound quality is somewhere in the chain, from the recording/mastering of the song itself, to the DAC, amp, headphones etc. Good Hi-Fi/High end is a double edged sword: You hear it all, including bad recordings/mastering (which could be...

    HDV 820 Sample rate question.

For FLAC with regular PCM, I would say no, I can't hear any difference. 192 kHz is, IMHO, as good as it gets for music listening (but some in here sure would say it's not good enough). DSF/DSD encoded in the DAC we're talking about MHz, not kHz, but some say it can be compared with...

    HDV 820 Sample rate question.

With Windows and the correct drivers, the best samplerate is set automatically, depending on the source. In contrast with Mac OS X where you have to do this manually (though, players like Audirvana+ can to this for you). Check the USB that came with the 820 for Windows drivers.

    Headroom Bithead + OS X

(Hi, everyone, my first post here at Head-fi.org, been a lurker for some time) Total Bithead works perfect with OS X Leopard/Snow Leopard, probably older versions as well.
