Audeze LCD-5 Review, Measurements, Interview
The LCD4 has a strong dip in the upper midrange and then a peak in the treble, where the LCD5 is the opposite. I was personally fine with the dip in the midrange on the LCD4, but the quick rise to a peak in the treble didn't sit well with my ears. The LCD5 is much more mid centric with what...- johnzz4

Wells Audio - Impressions & Questions
I have the Looking Glass 2 Level 2 and also had the older Looking Glass Reference. Both are excellent and tighten up the sound in a very natural way. I feel like the new Looking Glass has a bit blacker background and more body to the sound.- johnzz4

Audeze LCD-5 Review, Measurements, Interview
I get it, but the LCD5 as is includes the factory cable. Not sure how much of the burn in is diaphragm related, but I would go with the 200 hrs to cover you on all fronts. (Brain, diaphragm, and cable). In my experience, you’ll hear differences along the hours, but that’s where it settles and...- johnzz4

Audeze LCD-5 Review, Measurements, Interview
I’d suggest giving it a week or about 200 hrs. The LCD5 will easily show differences between cables. The stock cable didn’t make it more than a day since it sounded veiled to me, but I didn’t give it enough time. The 200 hour recommendation comes from Jeff Wells of Wells Audio about...- johnzz4

Audeze LCD-4
I agree.. most organic and linear sounding of all the cables I’ve tried with the LCD4. They’re cryo treated, and that seems to add a realism to the sound.- johnzz4

DENAFRIPS Terminator: the King of R2R dac
You certainly can, but I’ve found the HDMI and BNC cables to impact sound quite a bit - not necessarily better, but a different tonal balance.- johnzz4

Audeze LCD-5 Review, Measurements, Interview
A couple of huge variables in these comparisons are headphone cables used and chain. Listening on the stock cable and the DHC Prion4 are very different experiences. Also, with such a low impedance, I would expect substantial variance between amps.- johnzz4

Thanks, Roasty! Yes, the feet came with. I thing it may be unique to the Level II gear, but not sure. And yes, it's massive. Barely made it on my shelf (about 1/2 inch of depth to spare).- johnzz4

Audeze LCD-5 Review, Measurements, Interview
The sticking Rean connectors has always happened to me with Audeze’s cables. I feel they’re a liability for Audeze at this point. I’ve tried other plugs from Eidolic, Furutech, and others. I’ve never had the sticking issue with any other connectors. If they had a better connector, chances...- johnzz4

No, just enough for testing. Based on my experience with the Headtrip, I know I’ve got quite a bit of time ahead of me before it’s fully settled in. Good thing it’s sounding awesome in the meantime.- johnzz4

Telling me not to touch DIP switches is a sure fire way to get me to touch the DIP switches. 😁 I'll have to ask Jeff if anything could get damaged using them and just make sure I take a pic of the original settings.- johnzz4
