Why not just put the $200 or so into upgrading your cans? To me, going from hd555 to hd600 without any external DAC or amp made a big difference. Which then you can further improve the HD600 by adding in DAC and amp later down the road and it will scale nicely.

my $0.02 I would suggest you save up and get the HD600. Just to name a few major factors I noticed, It has much better bass, more revealing and better instrument seperation compared to the HD555 even UNAMPED. Of course the HD600 will sound even better with an amp but to me it made my HD555...

Can anyone compare the DAC and amp quality of the Compass to the Presonus Central Station? Central station is more expensive, but is it worth the money over compass? My headphones are HD600 mainly using Ipod/laptop/desktop as a source.

how much better would PC USB -> iBasso D10 DAC -> C2C -> HD600 be as compared to PC USB -> Compass -> HD600? Is it worth it for the money? I never heard of compass yet but if the difference is worth it, I'll just grab the D10 + C2C because that way I can use D10 as a portable amp too...
