Is my Fiio E7 defective?
I only set it to 50% so I can hear the difference in the gain. I want to reiterate that I was only asking about the gain of the amp. Not anything else. In other words, the volume that I set my source at is irrelevant when talking about the gain.- Ratzilla

Is my Fiio E7 defective?
I understand what you are saying but I don't see how that is relevant because what I did was compare the unamped mp3 player with the mp3 player amped with the fiio. In other words, the I am only comparing the input with the output and the output is more quiet than the input if I set the volume...- Ratzilla

Is my Fiio E7 defective?
I just got my fiio E7 today and I charged the thing to completion and plugged it into my phone (nexus one) and my sansa clip+. I noticed improvements in sound quality from both sources and of course, it made my phone (which normally sounds terrible) into something that sounds half decent. ...- Ratzilla

Comply TX500 vs T500
I know that the TX500's have an earwax guard but is there any other difference? Do the TX500's last any longer than the T500s? Thanks- Ratzilla

fiio portable speakers
a_tumiwa: why would you pick the S3 over the S5 or S9? The S5 is around 12 USD more and the S9 is around 4USD more.- Ratzilla

Anyone else use the zagg invisible shield
I like the invisible shield. The only thing I don't like is that it does seem to collect dust along the edges. The protection it offers is unmatched though.- Ratzilla

fiio portable speakers
I'm mainly going to be using it for outdoor...when I go camping or have bbqs. Because the S9 has the most bass, would it make the sound carry a bit better in such an open environment? Would that make it a good choice? a_tumiwa: If you could redo it, would you have bought a different model?- Ratzilla

fiio portable speakers
I'm not sure if this is the place to put this thread, but I thought this is the most accurate category. I'm looking for a portable speaker to use when I go camping or have outdoor bbqs. My question is regarding Fiio portable speakers since the price is low and their portable headphone amps are...- Ratzilla

phone with decent SQ?
I'm looking to get a new phone (my old one was stolen, along with my yuin pk1, grrr) and I am wondering if there are any phones out there that have decent sound quality? The reason is that I like having the ability to listen to music wherever I go and not have to carry an extra device with me...- Ratzilla

So I actually bought a gaming computer *gasp*
Look into the auzentech x-fi forte. It's supposed to be the best gaming card out there...at least by word of mouth. Personally, I have considered the HT omega claro halo xt and the asus xonar essence stx and am probably going to get the HT. I think these two cards are better for music and still...- Ratzilla

need help picking a built-it-yourself amp
I think I will try a mini3. My only question is why do I never see surface mount components used? I have always found surface mount components to be less expensive for the same accuracy. I'm curious, not criticizing, let me know!- Ratzilla

HT Omega Claro XT, worth it?
I'm still stuck on whether or not I should buy the Halo or the Halo XT. I currently have logitech z-5500s which are 5.1 speakers. If i use optical, then it will sound the same since my speakers have a built in dac. However, If I get the XT card, I can use the sound card's dac. But will it be...- Ratzilla
